I have an 03 6.0l that I just purchased and on the original window sticker that came with it, it says that it has keyless entry. So i ordered a new remote so I could lock and unlock the doors because the dumby before me lost both of them. I ordered the remote and then it came with directions to go into programming mode, so I tried them. It didnt work at all and I can not get the truck to go into programming mode so I can program my key FOB. It said to turn the ignition from the off to run position eight times within ten seconds and then on the eighth time to leave it in the run position. Then the doorlocks will go up and down lettting you know it is programming mode. But when I do this nothing happens and I tried it on my 04 expedition and it worked fine. Much needed help would be amazing before I blow this key FOB up
Keyless entry means you can open the door using the PUSH BUTTONS on the drivers side door. It does NOT mean you can use the key fob. The dealers CAN program the module so that the Remote key fob WILL work tho.....
But I don't have any push buttons on the drivers side door.. are you talking about the five digit passcode thing around the doorhandle on the outside drivers door?
I also have an 03 6.0L that did not come with a remote. The previous owner never said if it had one and he lost it, or even if the truck was compatible with a door lock remote. I bought a Ford remote on ebay for about $30, and tried the 'programming mode' a few times with no result. I found that if I switched the ignition on and off faster than ten seconds, the locks 'popped' on the eighth switch of the ignition. While holding the lock button on the remote down, the truck 'learned' the new remote code, and now I can use that $30 remote to lock and unlock my truck.
I'd suggest just keeping at it, it took me about five or six tries to get the locks to 'pop.'
Now if only I could find such a simple and cheap solution for those head gaskets....
