Ah-hhh-hhhhh !!!!!!!!!!!!! Those words are music to my ears! I just bought 415 cubes and wonder if anyone has bored the 5.4's or its modular big brother the V-10 to get more cubes. I contend that as much as I liked the big engines from the 60's there are much better pkgs. available today. There is nothing better to look at than the 50's and 60's vehicles but they had 2 speed autos., brakes that did not work well when dry and not at all when wet, no real suspension, no reliability or safety and actually not a whole lot of power for their size..... and they STUNK!!! The average youngster today does not know that h.p. was rated differently then than it is now. One year, a MoPar small block was rated at 240 h.p. and the same engine was 160 h.p. the next year. That was a very convenient exact 3 to 2 ratio I still use for comparison. In other words, to get the old rating, multiply the new figure by 1 1/2. A 400 h.p. engine today equates to 600 in the old rating system. Torque ratings are a different story however.
Big I thought the GT was 550?.....
which would make 480 ok....
But given the significant price discrepancy, (try finding a GT for under 200k), telling the public that they can pay another 150k for 70hp would be a little steep.
Mind you, the 550hp in the GT is a slightly generous 550...
I just bought 362 h.p. with 457 ft.lbs. of torque, 4.30 posi, steps, bodyside moldings, MP3 radio/6 CD player, 17" polished alum for $23304.02 including my state's 6% sales tax. Where can anyone buy more h.p. per dollar? No don't tell me about a 89 h.p. Kia for $6,000.
That was an employee discount price but that saved about $900 or so. My timing was good. I got one of the last made and just in time for them to raise the rebate from $2500 to $3000. My experience has been good ordering at the very end of the model. Rebates are best then, usually. Yeah, as soon as I read the 3V went to 362 h.p. I started planning on one of these. I will probably sell my 2002 F150 HarleyDavidson and get a 2006 F350 in about 10 to 11 months and then put 17's on front and 18;s on back of both SuperDuties. Cool?

the Kia line made me laugh. You got a heck of a deal Im still a diesel junki, but damn you did good.
Well, I have owned a lot of Dodges in the past. And I have recently read a thread on ***************.com in the SRT Forum where a 500 mi bone stock SRT ran a 13.2 the first time he tried out of the box. When did a L ever run that quick? Actually a L owner replied to that thread giving him props since he only ran a 14.2 with a pulley, exhaust, intake, etc. And remember, there isn't an SC on the SRT.......You can find used ones for under 40k now. You just have to look around. Carmax, etc.

What does that matter? The Ford GT has a S/C. That is an awesome way to make serious power! I think more vehicles ought to be equipped with a factory supercharger. As all the diesel guys can tell you on this forum or any other, forced induction is the best thing since sliced bread! Oh, by the way, welcome to FTE. A lot of us have strong opinions on many subjects, be we are as a whole a respectful bunch. You are gonna love it here!---Ryan

Don't take it the wrong way....I like the Lightnings, but my point about the SC is that it is still an option with an SRT. But you are right, there are two extra cylinders with the SRT. I am torn with the stock cars coming with the SC. It is nice to already have it there, but you can start without it and get a KB Twin Screw or something of higher quality without it stock. I have been smoked by some Lightnings in my time. I am not trying to take it away from them, but the Lightning this guy had I am sure was one of the earlier 2000s which weren't quite as quick as the newer ones, plus a 13.9 is accomplished by a GOOD driver. A lot of regular street racers would have a hard time pulling that off on a regular basis with a stock truck. This SRT I mentioned could be capable of high 12's once he gets used to the truck and actually breaks it in. A second in the quarter at 110 mph is quite a gap. But, all in all, they are both very dominate trucks when it comes to racing, and they put the Dak R/T's (which I had and got beat bad in by an L), and 454's to shame. I didn't mean for anyone to take it as I was bashing it or anything. Sorry if I came off that way.

Interesting thing, looking at Dodges website is that the SRT-10 comes with 4.56 gears...
No wonder it launches like a missile.
My Pursuit ute comes with 3.46's, and still does a 13.7s 1/4 mile...
