The problem for a new Lightning is going to be the extra weight. The new generation F-150's even in the regular cab format are quite a bit heavier than before. The difference is substantial. That is going to penalize the Lightning performance. Several posters here observed that the extra weight was the reason the Lightning got pulled to begin with.
Okay, it is obvious you have no clue what a REGULAR cab is. Picture a 1955 pickup or any Lightning. TWO doors and no extended cab. THAT is a regular cab. It is not determined by the number of seats inside but by the fact the cabin is short. These are the lightest, cheapest and fastest variations of the pickup with short bed preferred, of course. There is regular with 2 doors, extended cab with 2, 3, or 4 doors and crew cabs which have 4 doors. Lightnings were REGULAR cabs and did not have an extended and heavier version.

Ok, so that is YOUR definition of a regular cab. So what would you call the ford that are neither a supercrew or extended cab?
But, the new design is still much heavier than before and it is going to take a LOT of extra horsepower to compensate for this to make a new Lightning perform as well as the old one.
a sc v-10 still wouldnt take a srt 10 on figure the truck is pushing 500 horse weighs nothing and is all set up suspention wise i like that the lightning can tow the srt can not tow any thing but for money i am a tech for dodge we sold a srt for 46k which is less then a vette and 30k less then a viper or in our terms 12k more then the lightning for double the power natural asperaited i might add and is a stick even the quad cabs spank the lightning but also to add the new mustangs are way to over priced
..but they do not MAKE a regular cab 150, do they. You sound like you are not speaking from knowledge but guessing. Do you KNOW what the new Lightning will be?
No, they do make a regular cab F-150. The style has changed a bit, but the definition is still the same. No, I do not know for sure whether or not the Lightning will be extended or not. But by your definition, it will, since 3 seats, 2 'person sized' doors, and 2 cargo doors means an extended cab. Either way, the Lightning will be available in a regular cab most likely.
"...by MY definition..." ?????? Nick, You have NOTHING to base that on! I have no "definition" about what they will do with or for the next Lightning or even if there will be one. They do NOT make a regular cab F150 and are not going to come up with a seperate expensive additional bodystyle for a very limited Lightning run. Sure we wish they would but if all of us wishers had been buyers, it might have happened. My wife basically MADE me opt for two four-door F150 HarleyDavidsons instead of any Lightnings. She, like most American truck buyers, wants the room behind the driver's seat. I don't and just bought a regular cab F250 V-10 6-speed and love it! Dakota and F150 are no longer available as regular cabs because the demand is so low for that model. Armada says the problem with the next Lightning will be extra weight. I disagree! They will not USE a heavy model! The financially best option for the next Lightning (remember they HAVE to be lightweight enough to stand a chance of performing!) is to take an EXISTING regular cab model and use it. So what existing regular cabs do they have? Ranger? hm-mm-mmmmmm! The Adrenalin model they are touting is not right. They opted for the 4.6 instead of the 5.4 for it so it will not have the performance it could and should.

hmmmmmmmmm, seems like a "definition" to me. So correct me if I'm wrong, but I still can go into a Ford dealership or off their web site and order a "regular cab" F-150. I guess what does Ford know.....they only build them.
I find it saddeningly amazing that I can be quoted as saying there are no longer any regular cab F150's being built and then in the same post the writer says they can order one. duh? ".....they only build them." duh? says who? CHECK THEIR WEB SITE !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! There is a lot of useable info here but to learn you need to read it and pay attention. Ford no longer builds regular cab F150's. Got it?

I am paying attention, maybe the writer should "clearify" before starting to run his mouth about this. Fine, they don't make regular cabs ANYMORE. But they did before and that's the point I'm trying to make.
You not knowing the current status of regular cab F150's is a sorry excuse to get childishly defensive and write about me "...running my mouth." Grow up!? You are making no point except that you are not paying attention to me or the website for F150's. "clearify" ???? "But they did......" duh? ..and they DID build Lightnings, but now they DON'T build Lightnings or any other regular cab F150's! SHEESH!!! Is that so hard? Look, Ford has decided there is too small of a market for regular cabs to make them after changing to the current F150's 2 years ago. If you have not noticed they stopped building regular cabs, that shows you are not paying attention. Pay attention to this: IF a new Lightning is built, Ford is NOT going to come up with a currently not built body style to base the Lightning on. They will use something currently in production. I have no insight into what, if anything, they will do but I KNOW they are not going to build F150's just to base Lightnings on.
This is getting too funny now. We are stating the same thing now. You made clear that Ford doesn't make extended cabs anymore. I believe you, the misunderstanding was that you stated before that Ford never made a regular cab in the new platform. Personally I could care less about what "style" the new Lightning will be. We need it back and soon to compete with the SRT-10.
