actually, there was a Snap-On surgical division for many years, until a friend of mine who was the vice president of S.S. White industrial Products bought Snap-On Surgical Tools out about 6 years ago..
but i really don't think they ever made an ****-Scope.
Years ago, traveling down a gravel road on my way to a campground by a lake.
I see what appears to be a tool box on the side of the road.
I stop and sure ebough, it was a top chest MAC toolbox.
It was full of tools, all high quality MAC / snap on, etc.
Everything from sockets, ratches, extensions, combo hand wrenches, and even a 3/8 air powered ratchet.
The box must have fallen off a truck and was banged up, but the tools were worth a lot.
I advertised it in the paper as found, and wanted to se if anyone trying to claim it could give me some details.
Well after one scammer called and knew nothing , I was about to give up finding the owner and keep it all myself.
Then a guy called, he was an older farmer gentleman, he knew what was in it, and some good details.
So I told him to come get it.
He handed me a 100 dollar bill, and thanked me.
That was pretty cool that I could get him his tools back, and twice I said that no reward money was needed.
He said no, to keep the hundred, that the tools back was worth thouands, and he was glad to give me the hundred.
I have found and kept a variety of spark plug sockets, screwdrivers, even a small pipe wrench I found on roadsides and such over the years.
But have not since come across a whole chest full since that day many years ago.
I found a tool box loaded with tools on the side of the road.It had to of falling off a landscapers trailer, because it had extra parts for small motors.Must of been there for a while as water was inside the trays and rusting.I asked a few guys i knew but nothing..
I had a scrape awl in my truck tire once...On job sites a lot people leave tools/
power tools behind at the end of the day as they don't have to pay for them..
they go right the the shop foreman..
Found a 5 gallon pail that I was gonna grab(just cause you can always use a 5gallon pail). Almost through my back out it had a 2 1/2 ton chain fall in it. Dumped the water out dumped some marvel mystery oil in brand new!
found a good pair of wire cutters wednesday morning on the way to work, then on the way home I found a Phillips 66 gas pump sign on a road I travel a couple of times a week, I guess it came into view as they just finished trimming the brush.
Years ago (when I was in high school) I found a grease gun laying along the road right by our mailbox. Still have it.
A few years after that I found a brand new tube of white lithium grease.
Otherwise I haven't found much- I have a couple Craftsman sockets that I picked up somewhere, but I can't really remember where exactly they came from.
Also found a brand new pack of cigarettes once
Just a few weeks ago, I saw a mini spool of wire laying on the side of the road on a bridge, that still had a fair bit of wire on it! I wanted to pick it up just because I knew if it was copper it'd be worth something, but I was in traffic and there was really nowhere to stop or pull off.
Not a tool, but a very old pair of wire rim glasses found in a wall of our circa 1880 timber frame house. Checked around and found they had no real big $ value, but were a cool curio for on our fireplace mantel.
Unfortunately, my son (in 3rd grade at the time) took them to school for show and tell without letting us know. He left them in his backpack and they got all mangled up.
I was ticked, but he was only 8 so I didn't beat him too hard.
