I just bought a 78 f250 with a pretty rough interior. The running lights on the roof were leaking so the entire inside is rotting. Ive gotten everything out of the cab except for the dash pad. Does anybody know the location of all the bolts holding this thing in? Also what does the dash look lie without the dash pad? I dont like the idea of having to shell out two hundred dollars for a new one and would rather just smooth out the holes and leave it at that, but Id also like it to look half decent. Thanks for all yall's help.
There are quite a few studs holding it on. Once you get it off you could clean it up good, wrap it in quality 3/8" foam and then use matching vinyl, a heat gun and contact adhesive to re wrap it. This comes out pretty good. On mine you cannot tell the diference from stock untill you touch it and realize it is a little softer.
General, I bought a dash pad cover from Jeff's bronco graveyard for 75 bucks. It looks and feels a lot like the original. You don't take anything loose with it. You just put down some glue and snap it in to place around the exisitng dash pad.

I just picked one up on ebay. About $40 with shipping. A pain to put it on. You have to take the cluster out, heat and radio controls and the glove box out to get to all the nuts, but it was worth it after I got it all back in. Looks great. Hope you put it back to stock. Erv
i have been toying with this idea for awhile, and i thought i might take the opportunity and run it past the forum guys... tell me what you think
my kid has a friend in the VoTech Automotive classes and, they have been using the 'can foam' (like the insulation foam) to
(first) fill the cracks on a dash badly split, then after it is cured, carve to contour of surround
(second) use the same foam to adhere a dash cap.
well, this gave me some brainstormin... my dash is in need of makeover, and the old headliner too- and i read somewhere about somebody using some thin upholstery foam under some vinyl upholstery fabric to cover their old dashpad. i believe i might try using the same procedure to re-do my dashpad and headliner to match. might even go with some nice lightweight leather... anybody had any experience using leather on their dashpad?? BTW it would be a blue light or medium. any comment?
Hi, I just did my head liner with the fake leather. Just used spray glue from craft store. Looks good. It looks so good I am going to redo it with foam to give it a button and tuck look. I got ford letters on ebay and I am going to put them in an oval, Some thing like a laret head liner. It went pretty easy the first time. Erv
I finally got mine off..apparently somebody had tried to use vice grips or somthing of the sort to get it off before. But now that its off I think Im going to fiberglass the holes and spray it with truck bed liner. Im building this truck soley for a mud racer so the entire enterior is going to be waterproofed. Thanks for all yall's opinions.
