Just went to the junk yard and paid $20 for a nice looking dash pad from a 74 to replace my worn out 78. I was wondering if there was anything to be done to the new one to keep it from cracking like the old one. I am going to have to paint it as well to match the interior any tips on this as well.
I always use something like formula 2000 every now and then to treat the plastic and keep it from cracking. Also, try and park in the shade as often as possible, but if you can't leave the window cracked, and don't leave it in direct sunlight for a couple days in a row, and it should be fine.
Yeah, and if you do have to park in the sun, get a sunshade for the windshield. And leave your windows cracked just a bit (as said above). All of your trucks interior parts will love you for it.
