a buddy dropped me a bottle of diesel fuel supplement + cetane boost. he says i should try this my my 7.3 powerstroker. i have never tried it. was wondering if nay of u guys here have,or have any input on fuel supplements. it is made by power service, it has no alcohol. thanks .................the dawg
i was told by a man who runs his own company and has had a fleet of over 20 F350's with the 7.3 psd that i should run that stuff year round and keep the fuel filter changed regularly and i would never have a fuel problem with my psd. anyone have a comment on his statement..?
I run the power service all the time. It works well and helps. But if you can get Stanadyne in your area, its alot better in my opinion. I wish it were available where I'm at.
thanks a lot guys, good info, also how much should i put in a tank of gas. by my guess and figuring it looks like 8 ounces for 25 gallons.............thanks again............dawg
is it the white or grey bottle?? the white one (which i'm running in mine now) is for winter, and is a certain boost and anti-gell. the gray bottle is mostly certain boost for summer months... i haven't used the gray bottle yet, but i can tell that the white one makes a big difference in cold weather starting and driveability. Good luck
i run the stanadyne performance formula year round in every tank. works great, helps keep everything nice and clean. the power service is good stuff too. just make sure what your using dosnt have alcohol in it.
I keep a bottle of Power Service in the tool box in case I stumble into some serious cold weather, but I've basically stopped using any fuel addatives otherwise. It just doesn't make enough of a difference to justify continually buying it for my truck. Your results may vary, and it certainly won't hurt anything to try it.
I have tried Diesel Kleen, Stanidyne, and Lucas. Despite grand claims by the manufacturers and some threads on this forum, I have noticed no real fuel mileage difference when using any of them - and I keep a log of all fuel, additive, maintenance, etc.
I didn't notice any difference in how my truck runs when I used Diesel Kleen. I will say that the Stanidyne and Lucas make my PSD run considerably quieter. Without it, the injector clatter seems quite loud. Maybe there is something to the increased lubricity claimed by both.
Naturally, your results will vary. Just don't expect huge changes in how it runs, mileage, or power.
It is like the HPX mod - it doesn't make a big difference. But the subtle change it makes is welcome.
