Options to replace rag joint/coupler

I was wondering if anyone has replaced the rag joint with anthing other than a factory rubber joint. I know Borgeson sells a $200+ replacement steering shaft, but that is too expensive. Anyone put a solid piece or univiersal joint in? How difficult was the modification?

I replaced mine with Flaming River parts. Two ujoints and the D shaft were around $150. Very nice stuff. They have a web site. Don't think factory replacement parts would save any money. Don

I saw those in the Summit and Jegs catalogs. I will take it appart and see which ones I need to convert it. I am getting a lot of slop in my steering and I think that would help some. I will be replacing all the steering joints, tie rods as well.
