Wow. I started reading this thread without paying attention to the dates the posts were being made--until somebody said they were 45 if their math was correct, when they'd have to be 49-50. That's when I noticed the old dates. ftrk66 really resurrected an old one here...one I missed.
I wonder, how many faces have changed in the last five years? How many projects have changed? I'm sure we've all gotten older but what else has changed?
(I've got a new project car (66 Merc), still working on my 50 F-1 from time to time, had two kids, moved three times, etc. all in the last five years)
And for what it's worth, I'm 27 now, started wrenching after my Dad bought a new '85 S-15 without asking mom. Her payback was getting a '56 Merc. Monterey which started me on old cars/trucks about 23yrs ago.
I'm almost 65. My medicare started this month. I've had my f1 since 1999. Since then I've been collecting parts, even another truck (51 panel). My latest parts are a flathead, trans, driveline, front axle and rearend to go with my panel. It's way past time to do more than collect parts. So, I'm trying to learn more about the flathead v8 and how it comes apart and put it back together. My red shop manual that I got with the f1 is a huge help. I have one rusty engine tore down most of the way. I'm workin on getting the stuck valves out now.
As old as this thread is I might have already replied but am too lazy to check. I am now 45. Got my first Ford truck about 20 yrs ago. It was a 74 F-250 with no brakes and a clutch burned out. Learned right away how to work on trucks. That or spend money I didn't have paying someone else and that wasn't going to happen. I needed all the money I could get for gas. lol

I don't see myself buying any more vehicles for the rest of my life. That may change though. You never know when some little pickup or convertible will wink at you and flash it's headlights your way.
