Well, it sounds like my04beast is hosed. Sorry, man. In just about every thread in this forum, you will see a wide range of both opinion and experience (experience with product- good to bad). All this will help us all make better informed decisions in the future. If I could go back and NOT buy the Banks box, I would. Mine will be on EBay when I am done with the Dyno testing. Thanks to everyone for their technical and experience input, and lets all try to play together nicely.
I'm puttin mine up for sale too. What do you think one is worth? $850 new for the box and loader, another $100 for the egt gauge, wiring, and bracket to hold it.
Maybe if you get lucky you can unload your Banks stuff. Maybe someone with a truck out of warranty will buy it or someone like me who got sold by the Gale Banks reputation and sales pitch instead of looking into a Diablo Predator or Superchips product.
If I get another truck, I'll go with the plug-and-play convenience instead of the Banks. If I'm stuck with my "'04 Beast" I'll just see if I can unload this truck or trade it in and go home licking my wounds...depends on the lawsuit outcome.
Guys,
I just removed my 6 Gun from my 05 due to trans slip problems. Banks tech dept was excellent. They could'nt explain why my trans slipped though but said to return it and I would receive full refund. I just wanted everybody to hear a different side to the Banks service complaints.
If you mod your engine you should expect that if there is a problem down the line you may have to pay for it.
I'm in buisness and if I sell you a product under warranty and then you abuse the product or alter it for your own use or desire, why should I have to pay for that if it breaks. Don't expect Ford to be any different just because they have deep pockets, They have lost money 3 out of the last 4 years.
Change your exhaust and expect to pay for a turbo failure out your pocket. Why, because you altered the factory exhaust and Ford can deny your claim. You may get them to pay but you may not.
Remember that the engine is not manufactured by Ford and they pass the claims on to International. My dealer informed me that International is starting to look very carfully at all engine or turbo failures for 2 reasons.
1. They use the warranty claims to evaluate changes in there future products
2. Of course the money issue.
There isn't anything wrong with banks. When I ordered my six gun and speeloader, 3 months later I ordered a egt gauge and brackett, and they forgot to send the brackett to they gave it to me for free. I've had no problems with the product or customer service. I am just upgrading to more power. If you want one cobra, EDITED by TimL If your going to sell anything take it off line!
My dealer informed me that they can detect that you've altered your computer with any of the aftermarket tuners, even after they have been reset. He said the only way to be truly safe is to exchange out the whole computer each time before a warranty issue.
I know of heavily modified Excusion that bent a rod and with the switch of the computer it was covered under warranty. I'm sure they tried to deny it though.
I would like to know if that is true about them being able to detect the altering of the computer. I would like to buy a SCMT now that I returned the Banks

Just out of curosity where are you located My04beast?
My truck has 38000 on it and I went in talked to the service manager at a local dealer to me and they fixed my ball joints anyways even though I was just out of warranty, although I did provide the parts. Just because Ford does not offer greasable ball joints for these trucks.
I know it is a different problem than yours but, I was surprised that they fixed it, and did not even try to blame or even mention the 4" lift or the 315/75/16 tires on it.
I also have a 4" exhaust with no cat, and no muffler and they thought that was cool.
