I put a direct line to the pumps with a switch & an inertia switch. The truck is running great.I also put my plow on.I'm ready for the snow!! Thank you all for your help in all the post.
Another season of plowing is on its way.So its time for me to get my 87Ranger in shape.I have driven the truck on & off threw out the summer with no problems. Well up until yesterday when I smelled gas. It was coming from the fuel pressure regulator. I bought & installed a new one.Keep in mind I ran a hot wire to the high pressure fuel pump.Well when I started the truck it was like I opened the flood gates at the refinery!Gas was just flowing out of the regulator where it goes in to the manifold.I thought I pinched the O-Ring but not the case.I think that the pressure from the HP pump is to much for the O-Ring.Do you think this is because I ran a hot wire to operate the pump instead of changing the fuseable link?Any thoughts would be great!
Thank you I will check that.Do you think because I have A direct hot wire to the HP pump that it is to much pressure for the o-ring? If it was a correct hook up from the factory the pressure would be regulated threw the ECM? Whats your thoughts?
As far as I know... the pumps on your truck would run all the time once the truck is running and the FPR would contol the pressure and dump excess fuel back to the tank through the return line.
The return line was not blocked. The New fuel Pressure Regulator that I purchased was defective.I had returned it for a differant one & the 2.9 sound like it a new engine.Thank you to all FTE for your help.
