95 Bronco 5.8 No Start. Turn key on and fuel pump never shuts off. Replaced fuel pressure regulator, no help. I have 38 pounds pressure at fuel rail. I do have spark. I can hear fuel running through fuel rail, but truck will not start. Looking for any good ideas.
Tried to pull codes, but Ford says the fuel pump has to shut off before codes start flashing. Tried to pull fuse after a few seconds but that didn`t work either.
You actually hear fuel running through the fuel rail? Something's seriously wrong with that. The fuel pump will run up to about 40-45 PSI and then shut off. If it is constanty running, you either have no fuel, or you are running it out into the cylinder walls or onto the ground. There is a schader valve on the driver's side, near the front of the rail. press that in momentarily, do you get fuel? It should squirt out under pressure.
TFI, Thick Film Integrated Ignition module. No Bronco owner should be without a spare one.
There is fuel coming out of schrader valve when I push it in. I think the fuel is just going back to the return line I hope. No gas in oil. If I pinch off return line pressure goes up to 70 lbs. Looked for TFI, can`t find it. Found box on driver side fender well that has heat sink fins, but doesn`t look like any pictures I see of TFI on a distributor. Can`t find anything that says TFI were on anything past 92.
Look for the EEC box and the STI and go to the link timmy gave you. My Bronco is a 92. I had no trouble finding mine. It should be hooked on the inside of the fender on the drivers side almost all the way back to the Fire wall.
The heat sink over on the fenderwell is providing the heat dissipation for the TFI module. The older rigs had it on the distributor. Follow the recommendations of all who are telling you to run the codes. You should be able to do that, as it sits right now. It will give you more insight to the problem.
Codes first. Pull both KOEO and CM (continuous memory). If codes indicate TFI (ICM, Ignition control module in the heat sink) be sure to read my signature below before you buy one. Parts guys are not aware of the different sytems, at least not the ones locally nor on the Motorcraft web site. I finally found a black Motorcraft one for a 93 Taurus on eBay and it works great.

Reason: typo
I dont have a reader, is there a way to use a paper clip like on the older chevy`s? I try with the ISP, but I get nothing because fuel pump doesn`t shut off. Last night I started it with carb cleaner, and it kept running so I could move it to a better location. A lot of black smoke, and it wouldn`t rev over 2500 rpm. If I get it started again is there a way to get codes while its running without a reader?
Note when the fuel pump stops be ready to count. However, you said the fuel pump does not stop. I am wondering/guessing if a fuel pump relay could be stuck closed. There should be two identical relays under the hood in the power distribution box. One for fuel pump, the other EEC. Swap them and see what happens.
