I was thinking of attending the meeting. What goes on in the meeting. It's a long drive, (DeWitt, North of Davenport) and I want to make sure it's worth the drive.
first of all dewitt isnt that far, i go thru there almost every night, takes about a hour and some change to reach keokuk.
i will be at the meeting, that is unless my wife is delivering our twins that day. As for what goes on at these meetings, although i havent been able to attend one yet i assume it is general getting togather and staring at each others trucks for awhile, then since we are in a park i assume some hot dogs will get grilled. maybe sharing some knowledge on how to do this and that. was hoping fellro was going to be there so i could get him to bring me some parts he has i still need. bench seat , 4 barrel intake, 4 barrel carb and give him the 10 bucks i still owe him. Maybe somebody can bring a timing light and get my timing right finally. or adjust my carb. Other then that i dont know. but i am sure a good time will be had by all and you get to meet some great people who share the same passion as yourself for old ford trucks.
I guess we really need to decide whether we are just tgoing to make it one day, or both. As it still stands, i will not be able to be there on Saturday, since I didn't check with my wife's schedule prior to setting the date... Rob will have to handle it on Saturday, but it is more troublesome for him on sunday, but I can be there... Rob can help you set up your timing as good as anyone could. if I miss you on that weekend, i'll just have to see if we can't just get together up your way sometime.
Basically, what has gone on in the past anyway, is we get together, and talk about our trucks and what we either have done or want to do, some technical talk, some BS'ing, but if you love the gearhead talk, it's a good place to be.
I checked out the park, and there doesn't seem to be any way to reserve anything, so it will be a kind of fly by the seat of the pants thing on where exactly to be, but I would hope to get over on the east end, there is plenty of space there as far as tables go. There are no longer any grilles, so we will have to bring our own. Just across the street though is one hell of a nnice view of the Mississippi river, from the bluff. There is a marina for those who would like to bring a boat.
I'm no gearhead, but like to listen in and pick some tips and tricks. What is there any place for kids to play. Does anybody bring their wife and kids. I don't think my wife would enjoy any of the tech talk. I also need directions to get to the park.
There is playground equipment and such. My wife hasn't come since the first one, but the same applies, she gets bored with the talk, and just assumes noone else has their wife with them. I think this one may be different.
As for getting to the park, I'll get some detailed instructions on here after a bit, but from the north, you either take 218 south or 61 south, depending which is better for your location. 218 comes right into town, 61 cuts off just on the edge of town. But the 4 lane runs right into town, and the park will be off that road a few blocks. I'll see if I can't scan a map on here sometime. the name of the park is Rand park.
OK, I found an online map, if you can read it... Map 15th st is the best way in, it will lead you right to a street that is in the park, and if you keep going to the second right inside the park, it will take you right to the east end, The playground equipment is on the first right, back a little ways from where I figure is the best place to meet. There is a big statue of Cheif Keokuk on the east end and parking there. There are several picnic tables there.

It his a Sat and Sunday event. I see it's palnned for the 3rd weekend in July. Also about a time. I'm sure it pretty releaxed... about noonish I assume.
either day works for me. i will defintly be there. unless the birth thing is happening. do you still have that bench seat ? funny thing is that i was in kahoka last week. i was delivering at the new gregorys down there, but it was at 8 am in the morning. yeah i know i should have called lol
Yeah, i still have everything, but I didn't have a 4 barrel carb to give up... Depends which day, i was gone Thursday and Friday... but if you get back, you should give a call if you have time...
I was figuring early afternoon to be the best time, the day or days have yet to be decided... i don't really know as we will have enough of a showing to justify 2 days worth... the National is basically only two days...
it was friday i was there, i ended up getting down there thursday night and was gone by 830 friday morning. hey i saw in the high plains drifter forum you got to meet mtflatt. did you just love that old truck he drives, ya know he drives that flathead all over the usa. We met up last year when i was on my way to spokane washington. he is the guy i got my tailgate from for my 70. next time i get down there i will call you.
Yeah that's a pretty cool truck he's got there. Hell of a guy too. Had I been home that night, you could have stayed here, rather than in the truck or the rach motel... OK, so one of Kahoka's motels aren't that bad....
Gonna bump this back up... it's going to be the day in just over a week, we need to have a day locked down, it looks like Saturday is what most want. If we have it early afternoon, I likely won't be there, maybe a little later in the afternoon, and you all start without me... unfortunately. I can even go take some pics so everyone knows what they are looking for. There is going to be a change in leadership over to the Illinois side, not that I think that means we would be on our own, but that is a possibility. I haven't gotten much feedback out of the Illiois guys, but from what I have been told, they are still planning on attending, at last communication. That too has been a while...
okay i am pulling this back up now. The 16th is saturday, who is planning on attending the meet at rand park in keokuk.? it is easy to find just go east thru keokuk and turn left at either 17th , 16th, 15th street and go all the way to the park, cant miss it. what time is a good time for everyone. ? Doesnt have to be anything special just a get togather or a just stopping to say hi. sound off let everyone know if your going to be there and what time. also for fellro - -
fellro if you got time to grab that good seat out of that truck i sure could use it. I wont be able to stay all day as the twins will be home with the wife by then, or i could come later when your going to be there.
