I have to agree............Keokuk would make the meeting closer for the Missouri Chapter and about and equal drive for most of us in Illinois. Is ther a State Park/etc. to meet at?
A great place would either be the riverside park, or the city park. Thr riverside park has a big parking lot right next to the riverboat museum, and the city park is quite sizeable as well, and has playground and barbeque facilities. They hold a car show in the city park, so they wouldn't be too upset by our presence, but I would have to find out about reservations or such. I'll have to look into what activities are there and when.
Wow.........both sound very good. If the City Park is the better location we could try to meet there. Ample parking and open space for all to relax, chat and such would be great! Guess the dates it could be available to us would be a guide to date and month?
that could never happen... I wouldn't know anything about that kind of activity there... Oh I forgot, I lived up the hill from there... and my wife lived in Keokuk when I originally met her... nope don't know a thing!
we could go ahead and vote on it, I'll make the thread...
If it is to be in Keokuk, I just went by the riverside lot yeterday, and forgot how confusing it can be to get down there, especially for those who don't know the town at all. There's no shade and we are talking about summer here, so I would thinkg the park would be better, I don't think we really have to reserve it, unless we are talking about some big numbers. Also, the kids have something to do, this is a family gathering, right? When kids are bored, trouble starts...
There's all kinds of playground equipment, so it will keep them busy, shelters in the vent it showers, and plenty of parking. The river is just over the hill, the parl is actually on the bluff over looking the river.
