I still work for Coca-Cola Bottling Company Consolidated. I'm a forklift operator and do just about everything there from unloading empty bottles to loading full product on trucks.
Crappy job...but it pays the bills. 6-7 days a week for months on end. I never know if I'll be working 9 or 13 hours in a night
Once upon a time I was a studio potter but that gave way to me becoming a fight/fitness instructor for a number of years until I was injured. Now I'm a fiction writer.
Since I'm still in school I only have a summer/weekend job.
So far this summer I've been working a full week for the family business.
I operate equipment, wrench on it when it's broken, fabricate new attachments for machines or modify existing ones to fit, and do whatever else needs to be done.
Then on weekends starting tomorrow going through thanksgiving I'll be working in a little store owned by and located on a 300+ acre orchard.
And on the side I do the property maintenance on the business property, my house, and my grandparents house. That consists of: Mowing lawns, cleaning gutters, plowing snow, etc.
Better question is,Who hates their current job? Like say..I don't know..Me.
I'm a freakin diesel mechanic but I've been in almost every section of my BN HQ from S3,S6,S4,Medics,and now PSD. Right now I'm performing infantry work and have no idea what I'm doing. I have tons of issues with my family not including my wife who seems to have problems as soon as I leave for a period of time. I have never seen so much BS in my life untill I enlisted. Been in for almost 3 years now and am supposed to ETS April '10 but going to probably get stop-lossed for the deployment. I have no need to even be in an infantry BN,I'm the only mechanic slotted for them but there is a whole company attached to us for maintence. Besides infantry work which I hate terribly,I do an NCO's job as a Spec4 which is to ensure that 5988-E's are filled out right by joe and dispatch trucks. Since when did a mechanic do that? Hell, I asked for job training,I was "talked to" and told I don't need it since I can already do what I'm needed for. If we are the "strike team" or "BN CDR and SGM body gaurds" What if one of the trucks break down in the middle of a fire fight and I havent seen that problem before? I won't know how to fix it. All I can tell them is "Sorry,Don't know what to tell you,I asked for training and you refused it to me." That will not fly in combat. I'm so sick and tired of this BS job it is not even funny. My first unit was a helluva lot different but this one....Wow. I used to enjoy serving but now.....heh. I'd kill for a honerable discarge and move one with my life and get away from all this. I don't care how the economy is right now,I just want away from this. The highlight of my day anymore is just to get through it.
And that little bit up top is just a fraction of what goes on,Sorry for the rant but this is all really getting to me.
I started a thread on how I was attempting to quit smoking,I cut back but if I completely stopped,it would be a bad day for everyone..........
I'm still an ironworker! this is year 28 as an ironworker. I'm the company safety coordinator,(trade safety officer). I'm the cutting /welding steel guy,the post tension cable supervisor, and general gofer! basically when something is broke, bent, wrecked,or not working properly...i got to make it function right. my boss is also a friend of mine I've had for 27 years. so we are like family... occasionally we are dis functional like family members are.lol its a good job, this years economy has hit us hard.like most we have had cut backs, but we are still getting it done,so i will keep going forward. my job lets my family live pretty comfortable even though the economy is poor.
well I can't even get McDonalds to hire me as it says in their job discription must be able to lift 50 pounds. So this is really tough for me going from an Ford Mechanic to nothing
Well I work for the USPS as a Maintenance mechanic.
Basicly if its in the building, part of the building, attached to or outside near the building I have to repair or replace it.
