Jeepdude, on all four motors in which I've replaced the bushings, they were extremely tight going in. I had to put them in at a slight angle, not sitting all the way down in their slots, and start the big metal gear on the shaft. It takes some wiggling, maneuvering, a little aggravation and some force (hammer)....but they will go. And yes, it is a messy job. Give 'em another whirl.
JEEPDUDE,
I purchased the power window regulator kit (the AZ guy even asked if it was for a FORD, must be a common problem) from Auto Zone & it fit perfect. Kinda messy with the lube. With the exception of the door being a very tight area to work in the entire process, removal/installation, was fairly easy.
ALL the info from this forum is what made it so easy.
GREAT FORUM. THANKS to ALL!
Ken
Used the AUto Zone parts and it was easy and worked fine. Only problem, minor, needed to file the nylon parts flat on 2 sides to fit. Both windows now work fine. Now I can go to the bank and to Sonic!!!
Thanks folks.
so i have an 89 f350 with electric windows..they went down and jammed..i think..they still are pulling juice but they wont move..either by hand(and i applied ALOT of force to that effort) or by the motor..is this what you mean by they window will stick down? and if so.. are you saying alli have to do is loosen the motor to unjam it then it will be fine?
btw..both front windows are down...april just ened...plastic bags look so....well...theyre plastic bags on my windows...go figure

In MY experiences, the window went down and would not come back up, but I could hear the motor trying to raise the window. To me it's odd that both of yours went down and won't return at the same time (if I'm reading that right). If you can't hear the motor(s) turning when you press the 'up' button, my guess is that your problem lies with something other than the plastic bushings addressed in this thread.
This is an EASY fix with 6 nuts with 7/16" outer (wrench size). Drop two 7/16" nuts in all 3 areas of the triangle when you lower the gear drive back into the motor and bam it's fixed until the motor fails. No more repair or plastic bushings to worry about. I can post pics of the entire process if needed.
one window went down a few weeks ago..the other just yesterday..they went down just fine...but the motor is trying to kick..it cuts the amps down pretty good when i hit the switch..i was wondering if it just went too far and jammed or what? could the motor still be good just not able to get it started back up? i did notice there is a screw adjustor on top of the motors and wondered if that might have anything to do with it also..at least once i get the windows moving again..
Okay, I see. I was thinking electrical if they had both failed simultaneously.
If it were me, I'd pull the motors (well, at least one to start with) and open it up. Once you open one up, it'll become obvious if the plastic bushings are the reason behind the failure. I've never messed with any adjustment screw on one.
turns out that adjustment is exactly what was wrong with it..it prevents the motor from going too far and going beyond the leverage it can handle..like a float screw on a carb...popped both motors and did a little tinkering and now both work great.. and also..drilled a hole and mounted a long bolt in the door so when the gear comes up as the windo goes down it hits it.. stops the windo from ever goin too far down again..hope this helps anyone else with similar problems...and thanks wade...suggestions did help!

Very interesting - I learned something on that. Thanks for the follow-up Candrus!
