It doesn't have all the wires tagged for you? Mine had little tags that told you what everything did. No matter.

If you have the one that came with the truck, you've got 5 wires of the following color and assignment:

Dk. Blue: Brake Controller Output (to rear of truck)
White: Ground
Green: Stoplight switch signal
Red: 12V Battery power
Brown: Dimmer control

The wire you'll be missing on the controller will be the dimmer. I'd just tape it up.

For future reference for y'all, tekonsha has the assignments of wires on the website here:
http://www.tekonsha.com/files/BC%20W...20Rev.%20A.pdf

You'll need Acrobat for this, but it covers both the old and new ford harnesses.

I don't think Tekonsha has ever changed their harnesses on their end. Ford has at least three harnesses. An 04 ought to have the six-pin grey connector under the removable panel beneath the setterring column, off over towards the center of the truck. That one has the green wire as the brake switch.

Does Tekonsha still make the model you have? I know they have the Prodigy, Voyager, and Sentinel units.

Apparently, the brand new ford harnesses for the f150 has a different wire combination. Older big (250 and higher) F-series used a four pin harness with different wires.

I put mine down next to the sunglass holder, above the 4x4 lever.
