Hello- I have a 2000 F250 and I want to install a brake controller. Under the panel I believe there is a box I can plug a controller harness into. I have a Power Stop 500 PS that I really like. Do they make a harness I can plug into the factory brake controller wiring and splice into my Power Stop box?
There is a plug behind cover below the radio and the trucks do have harness in the glove box when they leave the factory. Some controllers have available plugs that fit directly in the truck plug.
Don't forget to make sure you have fuses for trailer installed in the box under the hood.
The wiring you found is for exactly what you are describing.
Some controller manufacturers will offer vehicle specific harnesses. If yours doesn't, Ford offers a "blunt to truck" harness that will fit the connection you found.
Only thing I saw available for the particular controller you list is a single ended pigtail that still needs to be wired to the controller. I bought a ready made harness for my tekonsha P3 for like $10 which had a plug to the controller on one end and a plug to the truck on the other end. It was just plug and play. Tekonsha is a pretty common brake controller company though. My 04' came with a pigtail that plugs into the factory plug under the dash but I bought my truck new. A used truck usually is missing things like that.
This link is on an 06' but some may apply to your truck.
