HI there HB. Bird I live in Norther Ky just across the river from Cincinnati Oh. YEs peppy is across the river from me.

My Lasik ran $3600 but I feel it was worth it. I don't know how bad your eyes are, but a buddy of mine had it done and was extremely happy with it. He had coke bottle glasses. They were so thick he couldn't see himself in the shower.

MAybe I can go visit my brother and his wife some weekend. They live in Plainfield. Is that somewhat close? What are the dates of the season?

Plainfield, IL I assume?
It's not too far, according to yahoo maps it's 389.6 miles and 6 hours and 12 minutes. We'll call it 350 miles and 5 hours since yahoo maps and I have a big disagreement on how to get to the state of Chicago.
Type in my location, Murphysboro, IL to find where I am, complete opposite end of the state. Probably south a little bit or due west of you.

Quail season goes out mid January.
The hunting preserve runs until March.

Odd indeed. How do you keep up with it and how do you get steady sleep?

I pretty much don't...the two regular shifts are ok, the two rotating ones suck, and the shift change between them kills me some weeks. I book my holidays a day or two at a time to correspond with regular days off to get roughly 5 almost one week holidays in a year to recoup. Have been tossing out resume's as of late, as it would appear I'm going nowhere, where I am, and can do much more. Waiting until after x-mas to toss the latest one out, as it starts at 4 bucks an hour more than I'm making at the moment....wouldn't mind that.

$4 an hour more, sounds good but only if it is a better schedule/shift than what you work now. But really how could it be any worse?

RR4E,
You could have my shift...three days on (72) hours, and four days off. That's 156 hours a pay period, 26 pay periods a year.
Also, those three days rotate through the week - I work four weeks on a Mon, Tue, Wed shift then I "fall back" on the 5th week to a Sun, Mon, Tue shift. It's so confusing I have to make up a calendar to know when I am working!

All I know is it's LOT of time away from home.

HB, have you heard that Ford is going to discontinueproduction of the Excursion?

I don't remember where I read that, I think it may have been FOX News yesterday morning.

Yeah there's been a couple threads on this on the Excursion Forum too. Not getting too excited about it though, I've seen this sort of thing before. They talked about discontinuing the Ex a couple years back too. I used to have a Suzuki Intruder motorcycle they talked about "discontinuing" for about five years!

If it happens oh well...I got my Ex and will have it for a long time!

My Excursion has the 5.4L V8 and I get about 10-12 mpg. Not the best gas mileage I know, but you won't get good gas mileage with something that big!

Now if you want to talk about "crumple zones" well that's another matter! LOL!

I was wonderng, I figured the 5.4 and the v10 would probably get about the same. The 5.4 I figured would be underpowered slightly and i figured the V10 to be a bit of a hog. What is the diesel like in those things?

Well from what I have heard on the Forum, the V10 gets a little bit better mileage, but I had a V10 in a Ford Van and what a hog that was! So I steered clear of the V10 engine.

The diesel was a second choice but it requires some babying in the wintertime with cold temperatures...having to switch from #2 diesel to #1 (or vise versa) and the risk that you have the wrong type in your tank in case the weather drops suddenly...heard a lot of stories about gelling and didn't want the headaches.
If it had had two fuel tanks it might have been different...
