I have always liked the looks of the older kenworth's.

When I worked for teh county highway dept. the summer I graduated High School all the tandem axle dump trucks were Int.'s with a DT 466. One of my buddies that farms has an old Casey's gas delivery truck and an old Mack. Two toehr guys have International semi's. One of them is a newer one with a 500HP Cummins or Cat I don't remember, the ohter has some Int. diesel. I think they're all cool, fun to drive at least.

Like it has been said, we are an elite bunch. We do our work but alot of our work is reactive stuff where many of us are monitoring important stuff or respoding to calls and a "perk" to it is we get to play on the internet.

When I took the written test for mine I asked if I could still just buy a CDL. I got a laugh out if it but the examiner didn't think that was so funny. When I took the road test I asked the same thing again (different examiner) and he laughed his keister off and said you don't have that much money.

Ive got a CDL B with air brake, pass, and hazmat endorsement. Can't drive an 18 wheeler on the road legally but I have several times for farm use. It was never more than 10 miles and i saw a total of 2 cars of all the times I did that. Still not a smart thing to do I guess but I never was one to always do the smartest of things.

I think you can legally drive a combination vehicle (semi) within 50 miles of the farm you are working on if you (or a family memeber) owns the farm.

The rules are kind of a grey area there. Considering the farm in question was not owned by my family it was still illegal.

And make sure you are instrument rated, a helicopter license=several $$$thousand$$$, a jet is a different license, and te list goes on. Make sure and also get an operators license so you can operate Dozers ad other heavy stuff. Then you can change your name from TruckerTaz to TransTaz.

Been there. Last dream I had was last week, I was falling asleep at the controls of a tractor. Guess where I had that dream, at the controls of a tractor.

I didn't sleep worth a darn yesterday. I've been trying to sleep during the day this week, I had an NRA nanquet to go to last night so I couldn't sleep at night like usual and I didn't want to try and sleep again after waking up 8 or 9 hours earlier so I tried to sleep during the day this week. Everythign wakes me up when I do that. If I sleep in the evening I'm fine. I think I slept a total of 3 hours yesterday, woke up every hour from something. After I get out of here in an hour and a half though I am quail hunting so I will be good and awake for that.
Got a four day weekend coming up then 10 days on. My coworker and I switched schedules next week so each of us could take some time off without havng to take vacation time. Works out good for both of us that way, we get our time off and don't loose anything. Boss likes it cause there isn't any overtime that way, everyone gets the days off that they want and everyone is happy.
