Checkin in boys!
What's up Pepster? I had a major chainsaw breakdown this weekend and luckily I had access to 3 spares to finish out all the cutting I had, now I just have enough wood to split to last the winter.
Drew, You can only talk about cooking if you post a recipe for how it's done and a full report on the taste. It's not a rule or nothin I'm just interested in some sweet and sour venison, sounds good. How'd ya do it and how'd it taste?
Just you an dme so far Pep, I brough tin my laptop and I have Remember the Titans to watch. Seen it 10,000 times but it's so good I'll have to watch it again. I wish I had a portable VHS machine to hook to my laptop that was easy to pack around.
3/4 cup sugar
1 tsp. prepared mustard
5 Tbls. vinegar
4-6 deer steaks
flour
salt
pepper
1 small onion, sliced
Mix sugar, prepared mustard, and vinegar together until well-mixed. Sprinkle half of the deer steaks with flour, salt, and pepper and place in a glass baking dish. Cover the steaks with 1/2 of the small onion and half the sauce. Layer on the rest of the steak, onions, and remaining sauce. Bake, covered, at 350 degrees for 1 hour.
and ended up not doing it. we ran out of a couple things and i was too hungry to make a trip to wally world. just got it and put ranch and A1 sauce on it, cut up some onions, mixed it all together in some foil. add a lil garlic and pepper and a lil bit of water. baked it at 3350 for 45 minutes. came out perfect. although next time i ain't puttin in a1 sauce. the onions soaked up all flavor from it and they tasted funny. came out really good. Thats the best i have cooked so far.
don't have much to work with to start with, but i can always make something pretty good.
i'm gonna go to walmart and pick up the stuff to make them tommarow. got some more meat in the fridge to thaw for tommarow.
the sauce i had left over from the foil i used to dip my chicken nuggets in

Sounds good. You gotta love those "damn, I ain't got whatever, guess I'll mix this, this and this and see how it comes out." I've come up with a few good ones that way too that surprise you at the end.
Hey Drew......left another message for the girl with the healer. No suprise that I havent heard from her on a Saturday night. She was scheduled in today....maybe see her in the morning. Let ya know though.
Bird....I didnt break any chainsaws. Although I think I screwed up a hub this afternoon, almost got stuck in some nasty crek mud. On the bottom of my list to fix.
Got a magical scratch on my thumb the otherday from a cow crap and mud covered log the other day......today, I'm the proud owner of what appears to be a nice festering touch of cellulitis in my wrist. Know more tomorrow night, when I see my wife, the medical encyclopedia.
Well I see that we as a group are nearing 2000 posts on this thread. I think we will be setting a record, which one of us do you think will post number # 2000?
i'm bored here too, think i'm gonna try to sleep. havn't slept in 2 days. just havn't been tired.
Come up here with me for a few days. Not sleeping from not being tired is not something I am having a problem with. Sleep is more like a relative term to me lately, I am a good candidate to follow in the Pepsters shoes the last couple of weeks. To make matters more interesting is that a field I thought would stay to wet till spring is going to be dry enough to be on this coming weekend, right when I get 4 days off too. Oh well time spent on a tractor isn't always bad.
Between my house, my mom and dad's not as much as the third place. The third place is a friend of ours (mom, dad, and myself) who's husband died two years ago and her nephew ad I keep the farm going, part of that is to keep enough firewood to heat the house. There is actually a 2nd house up there that I am working on buying here shortly. Anyway firewood cutting is a never ending task for me, but I really enjoy it. this place is awesome beyond belief, I've been on a farm all my life but this place takes the cake, incredibly remote, quiet, and talk about a wilderness. Won't get into too much detail but yes firewood is something tht I go through a lot of. I also sell about half of what I cut, when I said I had enough for the winter tht is true, for what is NEEDED there probably is enough, soooo, most of the rest of the wood I cut will be sold. Don't make a whole lot of money when you figure in the time/labor but I have my chainsaw 10 over and getting ready to buy another.
I use 1.5 cords during the winter. We also have the air police that may say "this is a no burn day" I think new houses are only built with some gas log fireplace wantabe.
All the good stuff here comes to you sooner or later.
Yeah I believe your right, unfortunately! The day I have to ask the government when I can burn a fire in my house for heat will be a cold day, no pun intended. Thanks CA !!!!!
