See, even I read it wrong.
Yea, well this place is a pressure cooker anyway.
Its just that I'm running these guys all night. I've had 2 crew that havent stopped rolling in 6 hours. Before then, it was a couple hour break......and all day running before that break. I dont miss it for a minute.
I guess since Ryan aint sayin much, and Taz is gone.......one of us is likey to hit post 2000
Sounds like its been an interesting night for you. So what is it that you don't miss, not having anything to do or the EMT bidness. I don't see how ambulence personnell can get through all the stuff they have to deal with, a friend'ss husband does it and I don't know how, but one thing I have noticed about most of the EMT and Ex-EMT guys that I know is that they are all calm, cool and collected guys that are usaully easy to get along with. Most of them have also been fireman at some point in time too.
Its an experiance thing. I know EMT's/Medics who wig out over the littest change from their normal activity. Whether its a station change, or an odd call.
Do it a while, and you no longer react to change or 'curve *****'. The more experiance teaches you to analyze the factors of a situation quickly, providing you with an educated guess to handle what you have. That carries over into everything else you do. So instead of panicy reactions, you get proactive responses.
Sometimes though, there are hot buttons you can push and just immediatly have them fired up.
The guys in the business I find the most difficult to deal with are the newbies. They often have this hero complex. A chip on their shoulder. Tryin to prove themselves. Humility is a gift. Arrogance is ugly.
Ofcourse, you also have the salty dogs who still have chips on the shoulder. Cant stand em. Nothin good comes from that attitude.
Me, I dont miss the running calls all thru a 24 hour shift. Its not the constant calls. Its the call, break, call , break stuff. Like when you have a call....get back, just fall asleep, and off again, sleep, call, sleep, call. You do that a few times a night. You hate the world. Its hell on the nervous system. Its not the hours of no sleep. Its the constant sleep interruption thru the night.
I am guessing though that you are in a much more populated and busier area than I am in and the EMT folks that I know work in. We live in a rural area, though I imagine that they are still busy.
Damn I ruined the 2000th post with that post. I should be banned for such a disgraceful dead. Oh well time for redemption. I hear a good proverb today, when there is frost on teh pumpkin, it's time for a peter dunkin. LOL
Taz I got a joke just or you and your truckin brethren! Why can't test tube babies be truck drivers. They're not Peterbuilt. HA HA HA HA HA
Glad you enoyed it Taz. It's dead around here today, I guess Pep is off and Mike still isn't back yet. Shame too cause Mike was always dependable to keep the thread interesting, not that you aren't.
