Snap-On full rotating head 1/4" drive ratchet. for body work it gets into all the tight spaces, rotated on end it acts as a nut driver, and has taken daily abuse since 1997.
A close second would also be the offset 1/2" and 9/16" box end wrench as stated in the previous post.
A close third would be my Snap-On ratcheting screwdriver.
my favorite hand tool is my snap on long handled flex head 3/8 ratchet. it gets the snot beat out of it everyday and hasn't needed to be serviced in 5 years since it was new

If you have 12 kids a plug should have been the favorite tool. lol No I have a pair of pliars made for pipe which the harder you have to grip to get a bite the thing seems to grip 125%. I use them to crimp solderless connectors like they were soldered. They're adjustable and lock at the setting you want. They come in different sizes to cover all pipes.
