I am running 10w30 max life and once my engine is hot and it idles the il pressure will drop off the guage
i plan on rebuilding it this winter while school is out but in the mean time will 20w50 help keep the oil pressure up?

no it pushes the clearances of the bearings farther out . I use 10w 40 and 15 40 both for over a year and have stoped mine from smoking to bad

so will 15w40 stop the little bit of oil i burn when cold?
i realize this stuff is just a band aid but i am going to pull the motor in the winter and go over every thing.
Also will 15w40 raise my oil pressure?

I have been a faithful user of 15 40 for several years now. However, the local garage accidentally put 5w30 in my 300 last winter. Didn't really notice a difference. I just like the added protection of 15w40. Been running that for 9 or 10 years now.

yeah it's athicker oil wich means it's harder to slip between rings and leaky valve seats plus since it's thicker it raises the oil pressure
