I have an '84 Ford F-150 with an I-6 300. Just recently after changing the oil i noticed the oil pressure was runnin near H on the gauge. I believe the pressure sending unit may be bad but havent tested it (plug is on properly to) I use 20W-50 oil, but i never had a prolbem with high pressure before the oil change. Any input would be appreciated.
are you using the same weight oil as you did last time?
Could be an oil passage plugged off I suppose, increasing pressure at the sender.
Did you overfill the engine?
Have you noticed any oil coming out of the oil filler?, the dipstick? Had a toyota pump out all it's oil, and have high pressures.
Try changing your oil to a 15w40 deisel oil. I woundn't recomend any of the newer SM oils in our older engines. Check out the oil and lube forum for some nightmares on this SM oil ruining lower ends in certain engines.
Some ideas. People with more experience may be able to help more.
