6.0 engine problems

I have been having major problems with my F250SD 6.0 diesel. Turbo failure, injector failures, Turbo air feed tube connection coupler comes off causing power loss. 14 recalls...mostly computer related. Front end alignment problems. Truck has 23K. Well maintained. Pulling 13K 5th wheel. Am I alone on these sort of difficulties? Help?

I'll be the first to say welcome. Take a gander over the entire forum front page. There is a seperate sub-forum for the 6.0 PSD, and that's where you'll want to be with this kind of thing.

tigger,
You're far from alone. What year is your truck? Look on the valve cover on the driver side toward the back of the motor for a label that should have the motor build date on it and let us know what it is.

The 6.0 has had a lot of issues, especially the 03's. I just had mine bought back a couple of weeks ago and there have been many hundred, and probably thousands, before me. Do some searching in this forum for DSB (Dispute Settlement Board) and Lemon Law and you'll get some idea of how the process works.

I guess the big question is do you have an ongoing problem that the dealers have not been able to fix? Like loss of power, oil leaks, dead pedal, etc? If so and they've tried to fix it several times, you'll probably be eligible for a DSB hearing and you'll probably win. In my case, that meant ford had to either give me a new truck or give me my money back minus a very small mileage deduction, my choice.

14 recalls? I only know of two. One for a label and one for a ground cable not limited to the 6.0. Notwithstanding that issue, read the process in your owner manual. What does the service manager and general manager at the dealership tell you? Document everything carefully and work with the service manager. Get them on your side. They can either get it fixed or replaced.

Jeb, jeb, Jeb......WOW where did you get these numbers...I cannot even come up with 20 in this forum........KNOWN buy-backs.......and any where else, NONE of us have any numbers.....hum.....

A challenge to all
I challenge the lovers and haters of the 6.0 (that we have in this forum) to find the total number of known buy-backs in this the 6.0 area.
If I am incorrect in my numbers I will........well… eat my words....
I am not afraid of what it will show.......YES there have been some.......however unsubstantiated numbers makes peoples blood boil...so less put this to bed NOW...find the numbers in this area and we will add to when needed and publish WHAT WE KNOW TO BE THE TRUTH!

No more, hollow statements less cut the BS and show what we know

Like a moth to a flame....
Some of the Ford haters that jump on these threads would have you to believe that these problems are wide spread, which they are not.

So far Ford has fixed all issues or replaced the trucks so be prepared to diligently with a friendly and calm manner work through the problems with your dealer.

If you have trouble, don't hesitate to change dealers. Most dealers are qualified and anxious to help you. Most of the problems we have seen were caused by bad dealers and the truck owner's bad attitude. The secret is to get the dealer to work for you.

Good luck and remember to let us help you work through the problems

Jeb fabricates information to support his Ford Hating position. His position has veen very thinly concealed until now. He is trying to strike back at Ford for his problems which probably were mostly generated by his own attitude.

Yet another CA truck.

Yet another opportunity for unsupported guesses.

Yet another opportunity for an interesting flaming thread. Probably will take off like the CA wildfires.

I wish Dove season would hurry up and get here so I can spend my weekends protecting the huddled masses from the dreaded Dove bird, scurge of the air.

While the redundant threads & flames can be fun and energizing...it's time to go kill something.

Trigger, FYI: Once you read up on the info already posted you will find a treasure trove of help and assistance. Lot of experience here with fixes and your legal options.

Good luck with deciphering the info and with your truck. Welcome to FTE.

I have a 03 that has never had any of these issues. There are many hundreds on this Forum with no problems. So far Ford and their network of Dealers has repaired or replaced EVERY SINGLE TRUCK with problems.
