Keyless remote/entry question.
I'm net to this explorer world. I just purchased a used 1995 Eddie Bauer loaded and this truck is exciting.
I need your help on this... I need to know how can I reprogram my remote for it to function on my truck. Also... I need to know the factory code for my keyless entry pad. CAn I put my personal numbers too?
After I turn the truck off, the lights stay on for a (a lot!)while and then turn off. Is this normal? Can I decrese this delay?
Thank you so much for readign and replying. I will need all the information I can get.

On my '97 and probably your '95, gather up all of the remotes that you want to program to your Explorer (up to 4). Any that aren't reprogrammed at the same time will loose their programming. Next, put the key in the ignition, turn it from off to on five times. On the fifth time, your locks should lock and then unlock. When they do, press a button on each remote. With each button press, your locks should cycle indicating that the code was accepted. When the last remote is programmed, turn your key off.

The keyless code is on the computer box inside your jack compartment. A mirror and small screwdriver will help you see it. Sometimes pulling the panel away helps. The code is a 5-digit number that is facing your interior panel. Yes, you can program your own 5-digit number but you will need the permanent code to do it. I don't remember how I did mine, but it is in your Owner's manual. If you don't have one, you can download a pdf version from Ford at www.ownerconnection.com for free when you register your vehicle with them. The permanent code will still work though, but so will your new code.

On my '97 there is a slide switch on the mirror. Slide it one way to make the lights turn off almost as soon as the ignition is turned off. Slide it the other way to make them stay on longer. Ford changed the operation slightly of the Automatic mirror in '97 but I think the '96 and earlier mirrors still had a slide adjustment. It will be in your manual as well.
