Except for the original Jeeps...which were made by Ford!
If you really wanted to mess with us you should find one of those rare ones Jeremy. It would chap my *** becaue I couldn't give you any grief over it. Plus I don't know how many people know this little fact so you could really mess with people with questions about your "Ford". Those things came with something like 53hp so they were real barnstormers.
Thought I'd better interject a little psuedo-tech in here
No, Ford never had to take their name off. They just lost the contract to make them from the military after a couple of years and jeep took over production. Even though Ford was making them I believe they were still using GoDevil engines. Might be wrong on that though. Even though its Ford history its jeep related so memory is shakey.

you haven't ridden in our 78 cj-7 304 V8....it's all time 4wd (quadratrac tranny) drive flanges, and a factory selectable locker. pretty badass in my book. It makes for one helluva trail machine with really good street manners.
Prototypes called the "Pygme" were built by Ford in 1940.....production started in 1942 and continued until 1945. These GPW's were powered by a 45bhp 119ci tractor engine. Only about 4000 were made.
