Me, Im 19 and i make a hefty amount of money, so when i was looking for a lift i only wanted the best . So i bought myself the Skyjacker Rear leaf springs that were like $500.. My friends all say i payed way to much for rear leafs.. but does anyone have these springs and why are they so much?? THanks!
I have the SkyJ rear lifted leaf packs for my 6" lift, but I didn't pay $500 for them. Shop around!!! I don't think they are as high$ as Deaver springs, but still strong enough for a weekend warrior!
Who cares!? You bought, you run 'em, Skyjacker makes top quality stuff. Probably coulda found them elswewhere for cheaper but you make mad $$$ so why worry about it? Right?
How the hell do you guys manage? $800 will cover my gas for 2 months if I keep my out of town trips on the ricer.
Ebay has everything if you can wait long enough . . . sooner or later it will pop up. Weather here is starting to get nice again so I'm going to head to the junkyard and see what I can dig up in the way of springs.
Speaking of which (hijack, sorry) if I need to remove rivots from the rear hangars on a truck but can't use any power tools what is my best option? I was thinking maybe taking a battery powered drill and drilling them out but wasn't sure if there's a better way.
ummm.....why no power tools...some kind of bet going on. just go borrow/rent a torch and blow then out, or get a grinder....for real.....the trouble it would be to not use power tools........but the drill may work, depends on the drill.
as for manage on a 800$ a year budget....well....i dunno....i meet the right people and get a lot of free stuff really. i only run a 35, so rearley break anything. 300 6, i get like 15 mpg...and thats with the 35...upwards of 18 without them on there. but i must admit, my parents give me 120$ a month for gas. not much, and usually doesnt cover it, but it sure helps out a lot really.
ivan, you'll probably break all your drill bits on those rivets. Try a hammer and chisel to chip off the heads before drilling. I broke 3 bits and one hammer handle removing the rear hangers on my 88, and that was after grinding the rivet heads flat!!!
I have a hard enough time getting by on $800/week. I would starve to death the other 51 weeks out of the year!!!
I'm not doing this at home. I need to pull some hangars off a truck at the boneyard for my shackle flip. Trouble is I don't have a generator and they don't allow any torches in there so it's basically only hand tools. I guess I may be able to adapt a cutting/grinding disc to my cordless drill and give that a shot. I knew it was going to be a pain in the butt to do but seems a lot more appealing to me than paying Sky Manufacturing. Plus with a hangar from an F-350 I think I can get a little more lift than Sky's unit offers.
