Ongoing 2002 F250 Build 5.4L -> 7.3L Swap

Ok so going to start a build thread and I know people are going to give me some crap about whats about to happen but they will have to deal with it.

Getting ready for the swap here is a little back story on the truck.

I started out with a 2002 Ford F250 CCSB XLT with the 5.4L and 3.73 open rear end back in 2007.

In January of 2007 I rolled the truck into a ditch and had to replace alot of suspension components so I decided that I was going to start the build process on the truck. First thing on the list was a 8" lift. At the time I was living in an apartment and didnt have a garage or anything so we ended up in the parking lot.

Next was the F650 dash mod and light bars...list was long on this round of upgrades!

https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/8...-dash-ect.html

After that I did another round of upgrades.

Including replacement light bars (first set was a cheap one and was horrible)

https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/9...the-truck.html

The weekend before Christmas 2012 the truck was broken into and they stole pretty much anything aftermarket off the truck. (Edge Tuner, Indash nav and dvd, xm radio, amps, capacitors, sawed all the off-road lights off the front bull bar and roof (after trying to actually remove the bars to no avail) smashed out the front topper glass and rear window making it look like nothing had happened to the truck from the outside) Oh and not to mention all the Christmas presents loaded in it for the trip north.

After that I got everything replaced/Upgraded a bit do to availability of new models. Avic Z140BH, New Edge CS programmer.

Then this past winter I had the seals go out on the front axle and since I was going to have it open I decided to do gearing and hubs.

The truck is now running Warn Premium lockouts, 5.38 gearing front and rear, and a Detroit True-trac locker in the rear.

So now we get to today. Here is what she looks like.

Picked up a donor for the 7.3L swap from a fellow Michigan Chapter member Torr.

Its a 2000 F350 flatbed dually. Motor has around 330k and trans is relatively new. No leaks, no smoke, runs great.

Once I clear some space we will start the tear down of the donor and get a complete list of tasks.

Truck looks great. That is a shame it got broken into.

Who makes your front light bar?

Did you keep the Dana 50 up front or did your truck come with 60?

Thanks, ya was not a good day.

the lightbar I have was made by Choccolocco Fabrication Seller's ID: jeepcj7.5 on ebay

Here is a link to the bar http://www.ebay.com/itm/Ford-Super-duty-light-bar-push-bar-bumper-NEW-F250-F350-/251013575194?pt=Motors_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories&hash=item3a7193321a&vxp=mtr
I bought mine back in 2010 and it still looks the same as when I got it powder coat on it is great.

My truck came with the D60.

Agreed. He's either gonna rotate the earth beneath is truck or go up to 44s so he can drive at highway speed

Edit: He has 5.38s, not 5.13s lol

The 5.38s are roughly the same as running 4.30s with 32 inch tires, and a little more. A lot of F-450s run 4.88s with stock tires. so his 5.38 ratio with 38s isn't as outrageous as you might think.

Ya I am running the 5.38 with 38's and the 5.4l is only running mid 2k rpm at highway speeds so it should do ok.

Ok so here is the update.

Got the two trucks into the barn thanks to a fellow member for letting me borrow a set of stock tires. Even had to air down the stock tire to 10 psi to sneak it in. (Previous owner built a 30x40 with 8' side walls so 7' door max. )

Also picked up the new cherry picker at a local auction.

Decided to start tearing into the dash to get everything out to do the internal wiring switch over.

Don't know how much more I will get to this week I am traveling out of state for work and then Mothers day this coming weekend but we shall see.

Hey Drey, you aren't that far. You can make it over for some help. LOL

We did put the 2000 on the AE software yesterday and everything checked out ok.

Can't wait to get this Bronco purchase done and iron out the exhaust on it so I can come over and get dirty with you Andrew!

Awesome! Can't wait to see this done!, how are you getting it to pass inspection? in MA swapping form Gas to Diesel is a major PITA with the inspection process...
