Pin box clearance

Random question... Will a regular sized propane tank stored in the rear corner of the bed clear the pin box or will it hit it when I turn.... I have a tank i carry for the fire pit. Measured the pin box and it appears it will clear since it sits well below the bed rail...

I know only checking it with the trailer hooked up will answer for sure but thought maybe it's standard practice...

Lippert Road Armor pin box.

Not really standard practice but there's a lot of things to consider. How tall is the tank, how long is the pin box, do you have a slider you use?

Usually if I'm carrying an extra tank it goes in the FRONT corner of the box specifically to keep it out of the way, or it gets strapped securely somewhere in a storage pod of the trailer (if there's room). I've even gone so far as to add tie down points in a pass-thru to be able to secure one.

We carry two 20 lb tanks sitting in milk crates side by side secured with bungee cords in the back right side of the box and have for years.

Used to do this myself, they can double as a step if needed. But 20lb cylinders are shorter than 30lb'ers, and OP doesn't say which he is carrying as an extra. If he's using a slider, that could potentially get the pin box close to the tank as well, he didn't mention if he has a short box or not.

I carry a extra 30# and 20# in milk crates. As can be seen were the 30# is in the pics. I've done extreme trurns and never had a problem. Your setup may be different.

Its a 20# and no slider. In a milk crate too. It sits a few inches below the bed rail and only potrudes about 12 in into the bed. Pin box if flat for 27" from center of hitch and then angles up to the trailer.

Sounds like I'm good to go. Just trying to plan for my first trip with the 5th wheel.

Sounds like you are good to go just make sure it's secured in place. I also use a cable lock to make it harder for low life's to steal them.

That's one thing I'm going to kiss moving from a TT to a 5th wheel. The ability to travel with my retrax cover closed and locked. Use to carry my honda generator in the bed but now it's in the trailer pass through..

Appreciate all the advice guys.
