I just got one of those OTC 80 pin 3226 breakout boxes. The pins are not numbered though. Does anyone have a pdf instruction manual for it? I asked OTC but they said they no longer have it because it isn't being made any more.
What about the pins numbering...do they start at the top with 1>2>3...going left to right...up or down...start at the bottom and go up?
Why OTC wouldn't put that information on the box itself seems short sighted for a highly expensive tool.
I suppose you have to look at what it's plugged into before you can decide pin numbers. The computer would give you the numbers correct?
Well, yes, the computer's connector has the pin numbers on it. The issue is that it connects to the box via a 60 pin EEC IV adapter while the box is a native 80 pin one.
I tried a continuity test between the knock sensor wire (goes to pin 23) and the box but didn't get a tone even after moving the probe to each hole. Will these boxes allow a continuity test or is there too much wire between the connections for that?
I took it apart and the circuit board showed the test point numbers. It starts in the top left with test point 1 and goes to the right thru 8. Next row is 9 thru 16 etc.
It's good I took it apart because I found tp 1's trace on the board was burned apart at some point. Repair time.
