Do they still make a 2x4 Supper Cab 8 ft box? Or will I be stuck with a CC.
Denny
4x2 Super Cab with an 8' box is only available in the XL and XLT trim levels according to Ford's build and price tool. Certain options may not be available such as the 7.3 gas engine which forces you to 4x4. Use the build and price tool to see what you can and cannot get.

Why is it that you don't want a 4x4? I bet a yuge amount of people buy a 4x4 and never engage the front axle. It's not a requirement...
I pull out 5th wheel it and have never needed 4x4 in all the years we pulled trailers, plus the 4x4 option adds hight to the truck making it harder to set the trailer up level.

4x2 gets you
-lower step in height, most adults 5'8" or taller can get in the 4x2 without any steps.
-lower bed height for easier loading/unloading
-lower hitch height for more stable towing and easier hook up.
-higher payload compared to the 4x4 counterpart
-better ride compared to the 4x4 version due to the IFS as opposed to the SFA on 4wd models.
-cheaper to buy
-no front diff, CVs, and transfer case to service
-better fuel economy from sitting lower leading to less air drag, being lighter
-less waste generated by not driving around with hundreds of expensive equipment that never get used.
If you use the 4x4 that's fine. But people buying 4x4 just to have it and never using is, frankly, wasteful

Yeah, in the 50% chance I decide to replace my 22 before any major changes comes for 2028, I'm ordering a CCLB 2wd F350 STX with the 3.73 to max out my range and as much payload as that allows. I don't drive off payment nearly as much now that I have my RCLB and through all my towing I have engaged 4wd only once on an uphill when it was starting to ice over, but didn't really need it with about 1400lbs of tongue weight at the time.
I like being able to just sort "slip" out of the cab versus having to do a short hop down from a 4wd. That 2-3 inches of height makes a difference since I am just slightly over the average height for US male population and not an NBA retiree.

Really, 2-3" is enough? I'm 6'2" and I feel like even with the power steps it's a climb into my stock 4WD F250. Even the fixed steps, which must drop a good 4-5" (?) from the floor height, would be marginal for me.
I will say it's very odd that they have stopped the 2WD option on higher trims. I can't fathom the reason, other than that, percentage wise, "no one" was buying them.
Yep, pros and cons to everything including 4wd......we get winter here and a 2wd truck wouldn't make it up the hill out of our driveway (I try 2wd often just to see if I can make it but usually I need to put it in 4wd if there is snow) so 4wd is a bit of a no brainer for me. I do have one 2wd truck left in my fleet but we often have to swap trucks around in the winter because the 2wd can't make it to the jobsite.....I won't buy another though I like the savings.
For me to buy a 2wd, I'd have to live somewhere that doesn't get winter conditions and/or the truck would have to be a dedicated tow rig that only needed to tow in the camping season, etc.
I agree with the height of 4wd being a detriment for towing and hauling stuff but as far as getting in and out of the truck, the running boards make it pretty easy......then again maybe it's because I'm in the minority of truck owners in that I won't install lift kits, leveling kits or huge tires on my trucks.
