First Ford truck in 20 years. 2026 F450 Platinum Plus. Got a fuel pressure alarm, air filter alarm at 400 miles driving home. 30 min later, check engine light. Took to the local dealer and they diagnosed and fixed within 24 hours as a wiring harness not connected correctly from the factory, dangling and rubbing on the drive belt.
100 miles down the road the next day, banging and popping from the engine, died going up a 3 degree slope. BARELY got off to the side of the road. Oil everywhere when the tow truck showed up and on his flat bed at drop off.
Feel for the tech having to reconnect all the accessories on the upfitter switches. Probably added hours to the job. Will make sure to treat him to a nice bottle of something as a thank you.
You should not have been towing within the first thousand miles......... You did not follow proper breaking........
In all seriousness, that absolutely sucks And it doesn't matter if it had 500 miles on it or 100,000. Catastrophic failures seem to be the exception to the rule, be curious as to what failed. Normally the undersides of the vehicle is covered in oil, You seem to have gotten lucky there.

Definitely don't offer up that you had a trailer on, if you don't have a good relationship with your dealer they'll immediately try to deny the warranty claim because of this exactly.
That said, I would highly doubt that towing is what caused it. That looks like a 24-ish foot enclosed toy hauler, you likely weren't even towing 10k. There was likely a manufacturing defect buried in there somewhere.
New vehicles have a warranty for a reason, every part is new and un-tested. Luck of the draw was not on your side but the odds are your next motor will be fine.
Do let us know what failed and why the dealer missed the warning signs.
Quick update. Some terrible sounds coming from the motor, sounds like a box of rocks. Within minutes the dealer confirmed it was time for a new engine. They also confirmed the chafing wire harness on the fan side of the engine, had nothing to do with the catastrophic failure on the back side of the engine. I asked if I got a Friday truck, they said I got a hungover Monday truck.
Hoping Ford greenlights a new engine ASAP.
What's Ford typically offer as a concession for this scenario? I'd prefer a 10-15% cash refund then an extended warranty because I plan to rotate out of these trucks every 1-2 years.

Chances are they will offer an extended warranty and/or maintenance plan. I don't think they will offer a cash refund.

I have never heard of a cash refund. Extended warranty, yes, though you may need to request it from Ford support.
Bummer. Unfortunately, if it's manmade there will be imperfections and things will break. Things like this are exactly why you have warranty. It does suck that there were two issues in such a short amount of time though.
Expecting a refund in a scenario like this is a bit of a pipe dream - As long as warranty covers everything and they get you back on the road in a reasonable amount of time. Dealer might be able to get you a loaner rig, but it won't be another F-450.
