26 F450, Catastrophic Engine Failure at 400 miles
Quick update. Some terrible sounds coming from the motor, sounds like a box of rocks. Within minutes the dealer confirmed it was time for a new engine. They also confirmed the chafing wire harness on the fan side of the engine, had nothing to do with the catastrophic failure on the back side of the engine. I asked if I got a Friday truck, they said I got a hungover Monday truck.
Hoping Ford greenlights a new engine ASAP.
What's Ford typically offer as a concession for this scenario? I'd prefer a 10-15% cash refund then an extended warranty because I plan to rotate out of these trucks every 1-2 years.

You have a very high probability of receiving $0.00.
why would you feel you need to be compensated 10-15%?;
When trucksis recalled, or in for warranty? Should they be paying you/us?
Thanks for all the support all. Yes, 6.7L HO motor.
I'm not going to jump through hoops with them. The truck has 400 miles on it. Even though the dealer has been great and seems to have a great diesel tech, it seems unlikely that a brand new truck having it's cab pulled, engine swapped, and Humpty Dumpty put back together again will offer the same build quality experience and resale value as had this never happened in the first place.
It's not difficult to get a vehicle lemon lawed in my state. I would prefer less hassle and just to get some compensation for the downtime, but if that's outside their scope I'll just get it Lemoned.
I think very highly of Ford, their leadership, and their ethos. My family and friends have worked at the dealership level for years in the past, and I grew up on Ford lots doing homework waiting for dad to get off work.
Things break, stuff happens. Luck of the draw it happened to me. I'm not upset about it, so far everyone's working as fast as can be expected to remedy the problem. But a new truck, well disassembled and put together with a new motor, is simply not worth what a truck without that would be. I'll order another F450, identical spec tomorrow. If the current truck gets put back together well and they take care of me, I'll keep it. If it continues to have issues, I'll have a standby option ready shortly.
That turned into a bit of a life story more of an update, but I appreciate everyone's sympathy on the situation. Let's see how long it takes to get a new motor from Ford. The service manager said he had no idea, because these are so reliable this stuff never happens. He did have an F600 next to my truck with 2 miles on it that also needed a new motor however, so we'll see!

That really sucks man. You order just what you want for big money only to have them ship you a mess. And I agree with you that it wouldn't be the same after major rebuild.
How long did you wait from ordering it to arrival?

ordered mid Oct. delays due to the holidays. Delivered mid Jan
A seasoned ford technician is an expert in pain and suffering. With the right motivation and time, he'll hand build your truck back together, far better than the factory ever could. Hopefully your dealer is a nice rural one, setup for trucks.
If they just gave you another brand new truck, it would just blow up again.
the so called "ford new engine" will be a reconditioned used engine thats was repaired...much like yours...do you want someone elses engine explosion in your truck?
Is that the case? They always use a reconditioned motor? I guess at least it would have higher QC levels than this POS had…
Wait for it......
It will be coming........
And here it is......
You should not have been towing within the first thousand miles......... You did not follow proper breaking........
In all seriousness, that absolutely sucks And it doesn't matter if it had 500 miles on it or 100,000. Catastrophic failures seem to be the exception to the rule, be curious as to what failed. Normally the undersides of the vehicle is covered in oil, You seem to have gotten lucky there.

Nothing, nothing all. I've already asked a couple of so questions did not get an answer, I wouldn't be surprised if you didn't answer yours.
So for humor's sake, suppose his answer is yes, he was towing, then what?
Personally, I'm a little skeptical.
