Are you serious?

Make sure the AC blows cold when you get it back.

Well, they can't take away your dreams. Another truck if in accordance with your state Lemon laws, or a buyback is a possibility. Compensation on top? Not likely. Unless you sue and win. And how much would the legal fees take away from that?
Best of luck to you.

Dealer continues to work at a remarkable pace and communicate well. Old engine out, new engine in. Now to reconnect everything and give it a test

THAT is a mechanics dream job. CLEAN, no rust, no grease, heck can work on that in your Sunday go to Meetin clothes. Should have them throw a DPK on while its being assembled.

I'd be nervous about it too but if they give you the 10yr/100k warranty and maybe some free maintenance I could live with it. Down the road though, Every time I'd hear or feel something odd I'd be wondering if it's related.

ya exactly. let's see what they come up with. Diesel tech says it looks like the crankshaft failed.

My 2017 went thru the same cab-off engine rebuild (not a replacement). Rightfully so, it was a better truck afterwards because the diesel mechanics did such a great job. I had 27k miles on the motor so it was still relatively clean too. Had zero issues afterwards. No rattles, no follow-up fixes, zero. They also sent pictures and updates on a regular basis. Glad they’re taking care of you.

That's reassuring thanks. They did confirm it was a new engine going in, not a refurb.

Wow, that's amazing! And I know it feels like forever, but this dealership is really taking care of you in my opinion... It took me 3 months ad an aneurysm to get a touch up on the paint job and it ended up looking like they gave a 3 year old a touch up marker and let him loose... hope it all continues to go well for ya!

There are new lifts out with double lift arms, one that lift the cab, the other to lift the vehicle at the same time.

Cab’s back on. Should be delivered back today.

Feel for the tech having to reconnect all the accessories on the upfitter switches. Probably added hours to the job. Will make sure to treat him to a nice bottle of something as a thank you.

Will be sure to follow up with whatever I learn.

Called to ask what time I could pick it up. They told me they realized at the last moment that the parts department also ordered a turbo, and they forgot to install it. So, off with the cab again. Pretty deflating, killed my confidence in this whole operation.
