The Chiefs will win the pennant; the Chiefs will win the pennant!
The "sleepover" went well. It was not as cold overnight as expected, but with me being the only security it was a bit lonely. Charlie, who is also part of the security team also had a 24-hour day, prior to mine however, he had a friend, and his dad, and even another security team member to help him overnight. I had nobody. It was worth it though in that the church gave me a check for $231! Still, I don't think I will do it again. Spent most of the night in the truck, making patrols every two hours or so. I am liking the truck more and more. Starts up every time, shifts fine every time. My next upgrade for it is to get a cheap stereo installed so I will have some tunes to listen to.
Howdy Tim!
Cutting and installing baseboard at my age is getting ridiculously hard er, installing the flooring was almost the death of a perfectly used set of knees , I might need to throw in the towel gentlemen, maybe flipping burgers is in my near future 🙀
Flipping burgers is a lot easier than pulling baseboard, I second that motion!
A week ago, early Monday morning a water pipe broke in the main church building, Building A. It happened sometime late Sunday night/early Monday morning. When the maintenance guy opened the door Monday morning he was met with four inches of water. All the offices, and rooms were flooded including the sanctuary. Building B was not affected and that is where the children's classrooms are, which are also used for various Bible study classes during the week. This past Sunday they held service in the newly finished amphitheater, but I just received an email from the lead Pastor that due to the upcoming cold weather we will need to find an indoor venue to hold future services. The damage is so extensive that it will take months to repair it all. The church owns a property about a mile or two farther west called The Dream Center. It used to be a winery but is now used as a resource center for the local neighborhood. It has a gym with a basketball court, a large cafeteria, and several classroom/offices. They are trying to figure out the logistics of it now. There is a $10,000 deductible on the insurance policy, so the Pastor is asking for extra donations. I donate monthly with autopay and cannot afford to give extra, but the church has never had a problem coming up with extra money when it is needed.
In other news, I am still waiting to hear from the VA regarding the scooter lift. I will call today and see if it is on its way or not.
There is a device you can install on the water main that monitors water use. It can distinguish normal from abnormal water flow, and will cut off the water if it detects something like that.
I'm still wondering how Amazon makes money. They send a $9 item overnight from Texas. They cost of a plane ride, and all the trucking, is worth more than the item. Now I just have to go to the Asian guy neighbor when they deliver it to the wrong address.
