I really hope that was a sarcastic post Joe. Try living in a small town on a military salary as an E-4. Granted Im not married or paying on two vehicles, but I do have a gf and commute 15 miles outside of town every day. I dont think that you, living in a small town can compare to a military salary period. I promise you you make more money than I do. And you, with a spouse, could or should have a second income. Its not about where you live or what you make, its how you save. I was a 19 yr old kid when I put down $8K of my own money that I had made and saved. And, btw, try buying groceries when its your turn for 3 grown men, in a 3 bdrm house.

I know not making a lot of money, but I have some to spoil myself.

Garrett

PS ranting done

HEY I'M ALSO AN E-4 GARRET!!!! Sorry...and also have 2 roomates and a g/f and a 15 mile commute to work, but, I ma paying on THREE vehicles...and need to buy a new motor for one of them, and rebuild the other, and ALSO rebuild yet ANOTHER vehicle......all on E-4 pay...... (did ya know that 2k miles a month is an eighth of my paycheck alone?)...

So you a 3rd class petty officer? I am a Senior Airman.

And yes, it is hard for me to understand why a civilian with a job is broke when I live decently off a military salary. I mean, someone who gets minimum wage and works the hours I do, will make almost as much as me, and you figure someone who does the JOB I do, will be getting close to a 6 figure income if not already making that. I make 1600 a month, working anywhere from 50-80 hour weeks, and on occasion even more. Yes, I will be working an 80 hour week during new years.

80 hours a week??? woooweee!! I'm lucky if I even put in 40. 8-5 monday thru thursday and only til 3 on Friday.

And Alfred, you shouldn't post how much money you make on the internet, but since you did, 1600 per month???? at 60-80 hourse per week???? Your getting ripped off. Is that 1600 gross or net? I can't imagine how you can afford to like. Perhaps Arkansas' cost of living is very cheap, but down here in FLA, you would starve to death on that salary. However, you could probably live comfortably in the 36" flat screen Panasonic TV BOX that I bought last night. Might need a womens touch though, you know, some curtains and a coat of pastel paint and so forth. Uh, seriously Alfred, quit the military and take the job at Taurus.

You think I got it bad? Garret lives in cali, Sucks for him.....as far as what I get paid....Look up my email, or better yet when I respind to one, it says my rank, go to AFTimes magazie or Army times or any military paper, and you can find my base pay, and my BAH/BAS for where I live...You can find out exactly how much I make with little information. Including my tax information, number of dependants, our information is not exactly prvate anymore.

p.s. when I first came in I was making it off of less than 1k a month. it has since doubled, and now went back down 475 a month to between 16 and 17 hundred.

Military makes so little money we actually qualify for welfare. The reason you do not see military on welfare is because we have things such as Pride. We do not take handouts, and we are against socialist programs also...

Me and my wifes TOTAL income monthly is rouphly 2200 per MONTH! Don't tell me about not having money. I have you all beat. My FOR SURE expenses monthly is right 2100. Don't preach to me about saving money. I can save money even when there isn't any money to save. Gimme a break.

My alone monthly income is under 1200. I promise ya, $75 is a friggin' lot for me to go spend on ANYTHING, much less a dyno.

BTW, girlfriends don't count. A wife is waaaaay more complicated than a girlfriend will ever be....UNLESS you are sharing an account, and living off of each others salary in your own home. Then it is an exeption. I live in the smallest, worst place in my town and can barely afford it. I pay $335/month not counting utilities. That's cheap I know, but that's all I can afford. When I say I can't do something for lack of funding, I MEAN IT!

BTW, I work over 40 hours every week, and I might have to get a second job to start making 'ends meat.' I'm not trying to get you to feel sorry for me or anything, I'm just letting you know the 'why' to my reasoning. 1600/month...I envy you.

ON EDIT: and yes, college (even though it's a local cheapy, costs at least $900/semester.

Anyways, I feel like a pissed off little kid for saying all this, but it burns me to hear someone say they could spend every weekend running their car on the dyno. I envy that person very much. I really do. Again, I'm not trying to say money is bad or anything, I just don't got nun!

Sorry about that Alfred. I think we're all revealing too much personal information here anyway and it seems to be putting people in a bad mood.

Look, it's Friday at least right? Yahoo! So lets all go out this weekend and do something fun, put our whoe's behind us. We've all got our own problems in life, be it money or something else, so we can only try to be happy and thankful for what we have, knowing that there are hundreds of thousands of people who are much worse off than us.

At least I know I'm American !!!!!

Ok, so lets all talk about happy stuff now Which is hard for me right now because i'm quite a bit hung over from last night, but i'm going home at 3pm to sit in front of my tv, watch DVD's, eat chicken wings and relax.....ohhh I can't wait.

Wait? What's that? I think I can actually HEAR my couch calling my name.

Hey man, I ain't mad or nothing...I just do not feel that that is something that EVERYONE needs to know I have no problem with any of you knowing about it, us the regulars, but what abot some random Joe Smo come walkin through the boards?.....and no, I hate fridays, it means more BS at work, and yet another 12 hour day and yet anotehr mandatory 2 mile run. in the 30 degree weather.....geez man this sucks...at least my gal came up here last night I only have two things in the house, my alarm clock and my bed. that is all I need right?

So you already sent the chip back?

BTW, they still make you do PT every morning????????

I didn't have to after I finished AIT. PT and the gym were optional. I had a lot of very fat superiors.

Besides, 2 miles is nothing. I can run that on one leg in under 16 minutes. It's not even a workout. And with the cold weather, I wouldn't even break a sweat. Plus, I can smoke cigarettes throughout the entire run, and as long as I'm running after 12 noon, I can bring a Budweiser along with me just in case I get a little thirsty on the way.

Ok, so, cigarette in one hand, beer in the other hand, on one leg, under 16 minutes, not break a sweat....that's not a workout, that actually sounds like a lot of fun

I'm sorry man, I'm just trying to bust up the tension here and let us get back to our goofy selves, I prefer that much more.

No, just fridays is PT, and like I said, anyone with common sense and the drive can find out my base pay...

on edit.....the problem is not the run, in good weather, 2 miles in under 16 mintues with a smoke.....

The problem is the cold, so cold your throat dries and cracks, starts to bleed in the first mile, plus the fact that you still have the cold from two weeks ago and it only gets worse.... It is DUMB to have 500 people out there running when it is literally freezing outside.

Sorry Alfred,

It's hard for me to realize sometimes how cold it really gets up north when living down here. It's actually pretty cold down here (for us) right now. It got down into the 50's last night, and for down here, I was freezing.

I used to live in PA though, many many years ago, and I can remember it getting so cold that my nose hairs used to freeze solid and snap off when I rub my nose.

Can't they just have you do squat thrusts and push ups in the gymnasium or an airplane hanger or something? Besides, what's one 2 mile run once a week going to do for you anyway?????

I know, I am used to cold being in the 50s, today it was in the 20s......Brrrrrrr.........

The air force has adopted this 'War Fit' crap. it is total BS, I mean I think it is all stuff we should be able to do, and I can and do excel in all but the running, no I cannot run a mile and a alf in under 9m30s

Oh well....it just argh.....makes me mad.
