6.7 Engine Bay 🤤
On another note, didn't know you were local, it'd be good to connect and have lunch some time.

Great looking engine bays folks. Some of you could serve dinner in them...
It's a truck damnit!!!
LOL
but well taken care of with regular maintenance.
I've always been a function over form guy...
Like when 1911 guys make fun of Glocks... Glocks are the original hammers of the handgun world. A 1911 would not survive the Glock torture test.
Plastic is for toys, be a man... 1911 is Gods gun
Ford Trucks for Ford Truck Enthusiasts

I owned two of them... one was a brand made in somewhere not here, bought used from a Bflo copper at the local, friendly neighborhood gun store my buddy owns, threw an offer and he bit (the copper selling it). Had Wilson Combat parts on it but didn't shoot right... my buddy added Wilson springs to it. Still was off (target). It was an Officers model, 4 inch barrel, IIRC... my buddy bought it for what I paid for it, F ed with it some more, it was still off so he sold it.
I also bought a brand new Auto-Ordance Thompson Custom 1911 because I fell in love it. Shot it some and was a wonderful gun to shoot. The problem was for me, at that time, I didn't want a handgun that I would never carry concealed because I don't train with a locked slide style handgun like the 1911. I was introduced to handguns in 1995 when I got on the department in the academy. A Glock 17, full size 9mm. Has a trigger safety and the finger becomes your safety. Finger outside the trigger guard, off the trigger, until on target and ready to shoot. We train walking and shooting now, and each time you are done shooting, finger comes off the trigger and rides on the slide until ready to shoot. The gun will not fire with that trigger safety being engaged, then the trigger will move. It's been dropped from buildings and helicopters to proof their safety system works.
I have so much muscle memory when it comes to carrying striker fired handguns, that carrying a 1911 was dangerous because I was afraid in the moment of truth, I'd go for the trigger and not disengage the slide lock.
I sold it and traded it for an XX style weapon that my buddy was building, so instead of getting most of my money back, I had to spend more...

Have much respect for the 1911, believe me. But that said, a full metal gun like the 1911 would not survive conditions that a Glock has/can, but that said, is not as cool looking as a 1911, but hammers aren't... For your reading amusement, here and here.
My next handgun purchase will be a Glock 36, single stack 45 ACP. I still kept the 45 ammo I acquired when I owned my two 1911s, so I want Glock in 45ACP flavor. Plus, the 36 will fit in the 19 holsters I have because I own a Gen 5 19.
The best pistol is the one you train with.
Lots of military history with Browning's semi auto pistol design...
I have tons of respect for the military and veterans. I taught my older son to walk up to veterans, shake their hand and thank them for their service. Same with my 12 y.o.
Some years back while on patrol, saw a vehicle with a WW2 Purple Heart Recepient plate on it. I pulled him over to just acknowledge his service and shake his hand.
Saw another man in a wheelchair being pushed by a younger female with a WW2 service hat on, it had something about General Patton on it IIRC. I turned on my lights and pulled a u turn. Got out to greet him. It felt good to make his day. I go out of my way when I'm out and about to walk up to older vets or any current member to acknowledge them. Guys like those and you should be acknowledged and respected.
Thanks for your service... much respect sent your way. I know an Army Ranger vet who knocked in doors. Huge respect for guys like you and him who chose a life of service instead of going into something else.
Spot on advice. Not an expert just posting my opinion. They call guys like me "Glocktards..."
I'm comfortable carrying a striker pistol, with the safety built in the trigger, with one in the chamber ready to go. I guess the next best thing to a 1911 is a Glock 45ACP which is in my future... What's nice is What's called the Glock trigger... fire the first round, long trigger travel, hold the trigger and slide it forward, it will click about halfway forward and then its single action time. If trained in that, two shots can be placed just about on top of each other in quick fashion.
You ever shoot a striker fired handgun?
Like I always say, the best pistol is the pistol you train with and most comfortable with.

I like being about to tuck a smaller handgun like the Glock 43 in a Blackhawk IWB holster, with a softer type of Kydex plastic with rounded edges, for summer carry.
What do you carry daily?
Also Im 6'4" 245lbs so I have enough girth to conceal it. LOL
