I wonder what’s different about the idle settings for the tunes vs stock that makes such a big difference though?
tested my theory this morning and it didn't matter what tune it was in. I don't know if there was a coincidence or just happened to be not as cold one day. I'm thinking glow plugs or injectors

have you tried cold starting it with the tuner unplugged?
if it does not smoke with tuner unplugged, that would eliminate it being a tuner problem.

That's my next step, I was trying to find a way to avoid that. Don't like touching sensitive equipment like motherboards as much as possible, I'm clumsy and accident prone not a good mixture lol.

i do not know the hydra tuner. does it have a stock setting?
maybe try that.
my DP Tuner F5 chip has stock setting, and the truck acts like i unplugged the tuner.

I just recieved and email from PHP on steps to try apparently you have to cycle through key when going from tune to stock i didn't realize that.
