I bought a Hydra chip with just box tunes on it . I love it but, if I start it on bypass it's starts great but if I leave it in fuel sipper or any other tune it and start it when its cold it starts smoking like crazy until warm. If I start it in bypass it starts up better and not nearly as much smoke. Is this because there's more fuel added or am I getting something wrong here. Like I said I love the way it brings the truck to life.
My truck will smoke real bad like that and run poorly when cold started on any tune. Starts way better in the bypass setting, so that’s what I do when it’s cold.
does yours smoke like that when plugged in? That seems to clear up my issues.

That sounds similar to mine, slightly more smoke but not by a lot. I’ve been meaning to do glow plugs but just haven’t gotten around to it yet. Seems like the likely culprit to me.
I wonder what’s different about the idle settings for the tunes vs stock that makes such a big difference though?
Mine does not smoke much at all regardless what tune I start it in. I'm no expert but don't glow plugs just help for the initial start. I would think cups or injectors being the culprit here.

not losing coolant so I'm gonna go with glow plugs or injectors
