I have a 06 f250 regular cab that is currently just a yard plow truck, I am planing on possibly registering it in the future depending on how much work it’ll need to be road legal and if it’s worth it or not.
Anyway I am having an issue with the door, since I bought it (last year) you had to really slam the door hard to get it to shut. Recently no matter how hard I slam it, it just bounces and I can’t get it to latch.
I have greased the latch itself as well as the mechanism inside the door for the handles.
is there something I’m missing? I cannot get the door to close now and it is an issue! Any suggestions? Thanks!
Sounds like the catch on the door jam has moved in so the latch can't capture it.

if I try shutting it 100 times maybe once it'll
latch. But I can’t do that everytime I need to shut it.
I also think that there is something happening so it’s not latching, but I am not sure what to check/look at

With the door open grab it and pick up on it to see if you have movement in the hinges, if you do get new hinges. If you don't put a coat of grease on the latch post and try and close the door, if it doesn't latch you be able to see if the latch is locking around the post. If not loosen the post and move it out to see if it will latch. If it does move it back in until it wouldn't latch and back out until it latches again.
Try spraying silicone? I think this helped mine when it was finicky in the cold weather one year.
sprayed silicone, the latch is moving freely, it’s just not latching and keeping the door shut. Which is causing issues since it is killing the battery because the door is ajar.
if I push hard or soft it just bounces, the last time I drove the truck ( springtime) the door shut no issue. So not really sure what happened
Your latch is bad. When you us the screwdriver like that the only way to move it back is to operate the handle to release it.

I tried the handle at the same time as I read that somewhere when researching the issue and either I’m not doing it right, or nothing is happening. Guess I’ll have to order a new latch, I should have dug into this earlier, the day before a snow storm is not the best time! I wish I could just get it to latch even if it’s only temporary, but don’t think I can.
I think you can see how the latch should work by trying the other door that works.
the passenger side works fine, and it looks the same as the drivers side, so it must be something internal, or I can’t see without taking the door panel off, I guess I’ll have to wait until I have time to dig into it, was hoping it would be a simple fix
