Was driving along in the 09 F150 4.6 2V 120K miles. Truck was running perfect without a hiccup. Went to pass a slower car and when I stepped on the gas the motor shut off. Pulled over and when I tried to start it, it runs for a half a second and then off again. I haven't looked at it since getting it towed today
. I did switch the relay with a similar one while waiting for the tow truck, with no success. I dont seem to hear the pump when I turn the key on. Two questions. Do you think its a fuel pump? And is it easier to remove the bed or drop the tank. I do have a lift in my garage.
check fuse #20.
My bad! The fuse to check is # 27. TSB-15-0137 addresses this problem. It is an easy fix and there are you tube videos to help.
OP, be aware the problem is usually with the socket the fuse goes in. Several times we've the fuse to be good but the overheating of the socket breaks continuity. Good pics and modified instructions here -> https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/1...l#post19195347
I figured a fuel pump module was a cheap enough part to giv it a try. Bought a Dorman but its still doing the same thing. The socket on fuse 27 looks to be fine. Im running out of ideas. When I turn the key, I can hear the pump kick on for 2 seconds or so. I then crank and it starts fine for one second then shuts off. While its running for the second or two, the throttle seems to do nothing. I dont know what else to do. Would a throttle position sensor do any of the things im describing?

Dorman is not known for quality parts. FYI. I've had bad out of the box Ford/Motorcraft parts so they're not immune either.
Ok I unplugged the maf sensor and it started and ran for about 10 seconds then stalled. Thats longer than its run since breaking down. Im gonna go pick up a new sensor.
IT IS FIXED! Replaced the MAF and the truck runs perfect!
Thank you! to all that helped! A Special THANKS! to ProjectSHO89 for making me aware of the fact that the MAF sensor could even cause this! If your ever near Raleigh, NC I got the first round!
