I have a 93 F150 4x4 5 ltr. auto. Single tank. The problem is that the fuel pump comes on, but after the truck runs for about 30 seconds it dies and the fuel pump wont come back on. swapped out relays and replaced the connector going to the tank. Could the pump be overheating and shutting down? The fuel pump is less than 6 months old.
Yes it will. Then after about 30 seconds or so it dies. Almost seems like it pressurizes the system and shuts off. Once the engine uses up that amount of gas it dies.
i went and bought a new fuel pump because of this problem. i think it's your fuel pump relay.
under your hood there should be a few relays. unplug one then go turn the key and if you still hear the pump kickin put that one back and try another untill your pump doesn't kick in.
the other easy way is to check your service man and it will tell what one it is. if that doesn't work well it's only like $20.

Sounds like your fuel pump and fuel pump relay are OK.
I would guess that you have a bad PIP sensor (AKA Hall Effect Switch or pickup sensor) in the distributor.
Could be the Ignition Coil or the TFI Module but most of the time it is the PIP sensor.
If you still think it is the fuel system I would say put a fuel pressure gauge on it and ground pin #6 of the DLC with the key on. It should be about 45 psi.
When it is not restarting I would also check to see if you have spark.
