bad fuel pump?

bad fuel pump?
yesterday i was going down the highway and my truck just randomly shut off going 55mph and wouldnt start back up and the fuel pump wasnt turning on. so could it be just a bad fuel pump or filter is clogged?

The fuel pumps will only run for one second each time you turn on the key.
Are you saying that the selected fuel pump will not run for the one second?
Do you have two fuel tanks? If so are you saying neither fuel pump will run for one second?
Bad fuel pump? Maybe, but could be other items as well.
What year is your truck?
What size engine do you have?
