My ABS light has been on for some time now. No symptoms when driving, but I haven't tried locking up the brakes yet to test it. Brake fluid reservoir is full. I just replaced the speed sensor on the rear differential. I have an OBDII dongle and use Forscan on my phone, but it doesn't seem to show any codes or any other info from my ABS system. I tried using the code reader at O'Reilly's with the same result.
Any tips or tricks on how to read this code or diagnose the ABS light? Thanks.
For some time now, I have also occasionally had the light on in poor road conditions.
I suspect it is due to a rust problem with the front sensors. I'll take a closer look at this in winter.
Does the light disappear when you turn the truck off and restart it?
When I turn the key to on, engine off, all the dash lights are on. When I start the truck, the ABS light is off for 1-2 seconds, but then immediately lights up and stays on.

ok, then there seems to be a permanent issue. In my truck it disappears after restarting (it is still on for the first few wheel rotations, then it goes off...until the next pothole...then it comes on again).
I have had the light on a few times. Always seems to be related to mud/standing water. Always goes out after a bit of driving and things dry/clean out.
I cleared it while stationary, and it came back on after restart.
I pulled out and started driving, light goes out. Drove 30 miles yesterday and it never came back on. This morning on the way to work the light is back on......its going to be one of those problems.
I have this same issue…ABS dash light comes on sporadically. I thought at one point it was related to hub play, and it might be…but the last few times no detectable play 🤷♂️
And also no codes. I read codes with DASHDAQ and also with OBDII-Link with an “enhanced” Ford module that says ABS codes are monitored under powertrain control module. Not sure what’s up.
On second thought I’m pretty sure my left front inner hub seal has a leak as I have a vacuum leak when shifting into 4wd…I wonder if that’s letting moisture in and triggering the light…but still unsure of why no codes.
you should be able to ohms test the speed sensor in each unit bearing pull it apart and test where it plugs into main harness /unit bearing pigtail connection
Intermittent Light
i have had intermittent abs light that would go away with restart and randomly reappear
Troubleshooting I found I could trigger the abs light by wiggle test of harness in wheel well area with truck at idle in park
I found that the pins and connectors on aftermarket parts/unit bearings electrical connections we’re not as good as fit as OEM where it connects to truck harness IIRC I just bent the pins to force good contact been good since
Corrosion at the pins, some rust jacking between the sensor and the hub, and debris on the sensor face can also contribute to this issue. Pulling the sensor out of the hub can be a problem in itself.
