Unhappy Lost All Keys And Immobalized

I have a truck here, 01 ranger XLT and it has no keys for it that are chipped, i have a key to power the cluster but the theft light blinks rapidly and indicates wrong key but i dont have any other than this one made for the steering collum. could i get a new ECU and key and have ford program it for me and ship it to me. i ask because im in a remote village in alaska and it would cost me 10k to ship[ the truckto town to a ford shop. there is no way to bypass this problem unles i buy an ecu and have it programmed to key but i cant get my truck to the shop just parts for it. Anything helps thanks!. do i sound logical about this ? if i do buy a new ecu online with keys can i just program it like its factory reset? or can only ford do that?

I forgot to mention maybe i could use forscan to remove the pack system? or remove old keys or factory reset ecu. im not sure what i could or should do.

I believe you would also have to send the gauge cluster in to get reflashed as well to match up with the new computer.

If you can cobble up FORSCAN, among other things, you may be able to program keys yourself.

I cant seem to get any reading from the obd port im assuming its because i have a non programmed key in the ignition and the pack system is locking it out. do you think the pack system would lock out the obd from communicating?

Pretty sure that the OBD system works with a non-chipped key. What are you using in the OBD port?

I use a XTOOL IP608 and it works perfect for my 04 Sport trac, Im noticing no 12v at the obd port but the fuse is fine and the battery is charged. that is why i assume ithe the antitheft and ive seen people say the antitheft will stop the obd.

I thik that the port should have constant battery voltage. I got curious and went out and checked mine with a meter. It has 12 volts at all times. My OBD device lit up also when I plugged it in. I was able to connect to it, via Bluetooth, with an unchipped key On (THEFT light flashing rapidly), but no live data showed up. All zeros. But I was also able to scan for codes with no errors using the Piston app. So it seems like you should be able to get in with Forscan or Ford's program if you get the OBD port powered properly.

Since I didn't try to start the engine the truck started right up with a chipped key afterward. No 15 minute delay like if I had tried to start it.

Funny, you saved me from future problems. I had a spare unchipped key attached with a magnet epoxied on, attached to the truck, just in case. But the magnet interfered with the ignition switch and I had to chip the magnet off with a chisel.

Pin 16 should have battery voltage. Lower right when looking directly at the truck connector.

Im happy to help you from future problems but do you know how i could get this truck running? should i buy a new ecu programmed with the vin and keys sent to me. then hyave a lockpick match the new keys to my one non chipped key then swap ecu and program the new key?
Im hoping it is that easy, any advice would be amazing. and i understand i may need to marrage the cluster. i sure wish this truck wasnt stuck here in the village. id just bring it to ford xD

Get power to the OBD port first. Then use Forscan and two new chipped keys to reprogram the new keys in to the PCM.

You don't need a new cluster or PCM. But you could send your PCM out to have PATS deleted. That might be the best way for you.

Here's an old thread and a web site. I think Pontisteve is still around. @Pontisteve

There are two in the links I included.

Read the thread, Pontisteve is at the end of the thread, he will do it.

Open the web page link for one of the companies. Good luck.

Pedinky, we can delete PATS on your 01 Ranger. In fact, we're the only ones who can delete PATS on 01-03 Rangers. Those years are unique, and we spent a great deal of time reverse engineering the computer to formulate a solution for those last year. It's been working perfectly for over a year now on all the ones we've done. Send me an email, and I will give you instructions on how to proceed. It's not an underground or illegal thing. It's just not a common skill set.

Best regards,
Steve Hulett
