If you get the other side of the pig, the bone is on the right and the steaks are on the left.
Those big, fat, juicy pork steaks are a "high value" cut. Italians call it "coppa". It's the same piece of pork that is always mentioned in the television show "The Sopranos", as "gabagool". If the grocery store butcher wasn't lazy, the store would make a lot more money selling "exotic" and "craft" cuts.
Happy Sunday Nor-Cal. I put 52 miles on the truck yesterday and will do so today before church. Then take it into pass the smog test at a different test station.
Safeway meat cutters are not that bright. They don't do anything that isn't instructed. It would make sense to simply sell you a plate rib. No cutting. Just put the sticker on. Same way that when ribeye steak is on sale, they won't give you the roast. Mind boggling. Don't cut it. Just let me have it whole. Short ribs are on sale. Not plate ribs. Ribeye steak is on sale. Not prime rib roast.
And the nightmare continues. Tried to go to the repair shop this morning to have them check for codes. They were not open. Even though their sign says 9am until 5pm. This was around 9:30am. So, I went to O'Rielly and had them check. Came up with an EVAP issue. So, I bought a new gas cap and went to the Economy Smog test station on Belmont and Maple. They wanted $59 for a test including the smog certificate. If it doesn't pass, then $50 for the inspection. I am thinking, and you call this Economy Smog? Anyway, I said go ahead, if it passes it will be worth it. However, after doing the visual inspection, he comes back and says it will fail the test because it looks like someone has tampered with the catalytic converter. I show him the Red Carpet failed smog test. He tells me take it back to them. So I go to Red Carpet, and they are closed because their conveyor system is down. So, I came home. I will try again tomorrow.
FINALLY!!!!!! The truck passed the smog test at Red Carpet for free. Only had to pay the $8.25 certificate fee. I drove straight to the Blackstone DMV which is right up the street from Rec Carpet, and the smallest DMV of the three in the area. As I pulled into the parking lot, someone pulled out of one of the three disabled parking spaces right in front. Then, when I got inside, there was hardly any one there. I was in and out in about 30 mins. On the way back to the apartment, the CEL came on which doesn't make sense, but it has already passed smog, and the engine still runs fine, so I will worry about the next time smog is due. Needless to say I am a happy camper. Now if I can get my scooter back before the weekend, I'll be even happier!
