I'm just "bumping" for you, since it helps to know if you still wanted a higher output one. I have no idea anymore which is the most reliable alternative (sorry), but I do like to stay current on the choices!
I haven't ever measured my alternator temperature, but I will be doing that soon (curiosity). I do know it can get too hot to touch, so that is well over 150*F. Also, lots of plastic materials don't like to get past say 240 *F (sustained)! Plastics like Nylon 66 and PBT are rated for 280(ish) max, but that doesn't take into account the need for longevity. That kind of heat will be hard on the longevity of connectors and other materials I would think!
I'm running the USA diesel alternator from FICMrepair.com too, no issues so far. But that Leece Neville alternator you had is suppose to be a really good one too. The Leece Neville was actually what I wanted, but ended up with the USA diesel alternator because of availability at the time I was buying.

You guys should post up the temps of your alternators after running for a bit. Would be rather interesting to see the temp range between different units.
