Firstly, in my experience, most mistakes are made when installing the D-rings, which extremely shortens the service life of these seals.

I heat the D-rings and fit them with a special grease. So far I have not had a single problem with these seals.

On the other hand, the engines are run with too high EOTs.

That's an interesting technique. What liquid are you heating them in?

Yes. Heating them is a good thing. 150-175 *F should be fine. In the video, Hartwig goes to about 200.

I want to really compliment @Hartwig for his work on the high pressure oil components - possible failure causes and optimizing the installation techniques. A great contribution and I think if we all practiced what he is now doing (assuming we started with OEM parts and/or o-rings from Alliant Power), we would not see very many failures at all.

Well this information might have been handy 4 dummy plugs ago, diesel site says

OUR STANDPIPES WILL COME DISASSEMBLED and GREASED. Do not reassemble dry.

While you may add additional grease, DO NOT add or use motor oil, petroleum jelly, or engine assembly lube.
These materials are not compatible or are not sufficient; use a "GC-LB" [ex: bearing] grease.
